"He was possibly the youngest of the three children of Thomas Perrot, landowner, and his wife Mary, daughter of James Berkeley. Contrary to popular and oft-quoted myth, Perrot's mother was never a mistress of Henry VIII and he, consequently, was not the king's bastard son.
"He had children by both his wives. His first wife was Anne Cheney and his second was Joan Prust, widow of Sir Lewis Pollard, of King's Nympton, and daughter of Hugh Prust, of Thorvey.
"He became a Knight of the Bath at the coronation of King Edward VI, president of Munster in 1572, and lord-deputy of Ireland in 1583. In 1588 during the threatened Spanish invasion of Ireland, he became admiral of the fleet. Subsequently tried and condemned for high treason, he was respited and died after 3 May 1592 in the Tower."2

"He was possibly the youngest of the three children of Thomas Perrot, landowner, and his wife Mary, daughter of James Berkeley. Contrary to popular and oft-quoted myth, Perrot's mother was never a mistress of Henry VIII and he, consequently, was not the king's bastard son.
"He had children by both his wives. His first wife was Anne Cheney and his second was Joan Prust, widow of Sir Lewis Pollard, of King's Nympton, and daughter of Hugh Prust, of Thorvey.
"He became a Knight of the Bath at the coronation of King Edward VI, president of Munster in 1572, and lord-deputy of Ireland in 1583. In 1588 during the threatened Spanish invasion of Ireland, he became admiral of the fleet. Subsequently tried and condemned for high treason, he was respited and died after 3 May 1592 in the Tower."2
