     ; "Robert Fitz-Payne, 2nd baron, summoned to parliament, from 7 August, 1327, to 15 November, 1351. This nobleman was in the wars of Scotland in the 10th and 12th Edward II, and in the 16th Edward III (residing then at his seat of Mershwode, co. Dorset) he had command to provide ten men at arms, and ten archers, for the king's service in France, and in three years afterwards, being then a banneret, he had a military summons to attend the king into that realm. His lordship m. Ela, dau. and co-heir of Guy de Bryan, and dying in 1354, left an only dau. and heir, Isabel Fitz-Payne, then thrity years of age, and the wife of John Chideock..."5
