     The Vaught family lived about six miles south of Mountain City, near an area called Vaughtsville on Roane Creek, near the mouth of Vaught Creek. John was a farmer, a large slave owner and he manufactured hammered iron.
     Their youngest son David Henry was only four years old when Rebecca died before reaching age 40.
     Spouses: 2 John remarried to Nancy E. Gambill on 21 December 1854 in Johnson County, Tennessee.
     However, no record of any children being born to his second wife.
