Cathren Vaught was born circa 1779 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, USA; Spurlin [1994:V:18] has a summary of the proposed "tentative family of Andrew Vaught Jr. and his wife Betsy Dobler..." and their proposed dates of birth.
     For Cathren she says:
     Birth Date:     ca 1779
Tolerance of the circa:     b 1770-80
Source of birth date:     1840 census Jackson Co., AL & marriage date 1796.2 She married George Whitten Broyles, son of Adam Broyles and Elizabeth Speck, on 16 June 1796 at Blount Co., Tennessee, USA; Spurlin [1995:V:16] give date of marriage license as 10 June 1796.

Cathren Vaught was also known as Cathren Vaut Spurlin [1994:V:16] cites "The Broyles Family" by Arthur Leslie Keith.3
Cathren Vaught was a witness to the Spurlin [1994:V:19]: "The John who married Nancy Hatfield is claimed to be a son of a William Vaught who lived in the Washington D. C. area all his life and was born in Germnay. No proof is given. John had a son, Caswell, who went to Blount Co., TN from AL to marry Sarah Broyles. Cathren Vaught, widow of George Broyles, was living next door to Benjamin Vaught, son of John and Nancy Vaught, in Jackson Co., AL in 1840. Because of the Broyles conection, it is more likely that John Vaught is a son of Andrew and Besy Vaught, rather than "William"." with John Vaught.5

Cathren Vaught and George Whitten Broyles appeared in the census of 1830 at Ranges 1 & 2, Madison Co., Alabama, USA; [There are ten children under 15 years old in this household.George may have a number of his grandchildren living with him. Only one of his known children, Sarah (b1818) would fit. His son, George Jr., appears on another page of the same census.]]

John Vaught was born circa 1791 at Blount Co., Tennessee, USA; Spurling [1994:V:18] has a summary of the proposed "tentative family of Andrew Vaught Jr. and his wife Betsy Dobler..." and their proposed dates of birth.
     For John she says:
     Birth Date:     ca 1791
Tolerance of the circa:     b 1790-1800     Source of birth date:     1840 Census Jackson Co., AL.2 He married Nancy Hatfield, daughter of John Hatfield, circa 1807 at Tennessee, USA.3
John Vaught died circa 1841 at Jackson Co., Alabama, USA.4
     John Vaught
Spurlin [1994:V:19]: "The John who married Nancy Hatfield is claimed to be a son of a William Vaught who lived in the Washington D. C. area all his life and was born in Germnay. Because of the Broyles conection, it is more likely that John Vaught is a son of Andrew and Besy Vaught, rather than "William"."5

John Vaught began military service between 9 October 1813 and 2 December 1813 at War of 1812, Madison Co., Alabama (the Mississippi Territory), USA,      Private, Capt. William Evans' Company of Infantry of Madison County, Mississippi Territory, Militia, ordered into service for the defence of said county to repel an invation of hostile Creek Indians.6
