They lived on a 1,120-acre farm @ Caddo Gap where all of his 1st. marriage's 9 children & his 2nd. marriage's 3 children were born.

SILAS was wounded during the Civil War. In 1861 he joined Company E, 2nd. Arkansas Infantry for the CSA. He was @ The Battle of Pea Ridge, Wilson's Creek, Corinth, Richmond, Kentucky, Perryville, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Resaca, Pine Bluff, Mark's Hill, & Jerkin's Ferry. He was a participant with The Trans-Mississippi Dept. In June 1865 he was part of the surrender @ Marshall, TX.
SILAS became a lawyer in 1868 & was county judge & probate judge until 1898 @ Caddo Gap. (He died 3 yrs. later in 1901.)
He had practiced law for 7 yrs. when his 1st. wife Lucinda died in 1875.
He married "E. Jane Petty Ellington" on 8-15-1878 @ Caddo Gap. She was the daughter of Dr. John Petty & Elizabeth J. Mullins Petty. Jane was 20 yrs. younger than Silas; he was a friend & contemporary of Jane's father, Dr. Petty. She brought 2 of her 3 children from her previous marriage to Silas's home. Her son, William Jasper (Bill) Ellington, Sr. followed in Silas's footsteps & became a lawyer & a judge.
SILAS & "Jane" had these 3 children:
~~Garland L. Vaught, b: 1-26-1885; d: 6-27-1915;
~~Sallie E. Vaught, (m: West) b: 9-16-1887; d: 10-5-1972;

Here is his information: He was married to Cora Peel (daughter of John Wesley Peel & Mary Frances Robbins Peel) on July 12, 1909. They had 4 children: Nellie, Perry, Crystal, & Opal. He died in Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi & was buried there.

He married "E. Jane Petty Ellington" on 8-15-1878 @ Caddo Gap. She was the daughter of Dr. John Petty & Elizabeth J. Mullins Petty. Jane was 20 yrs. younger than Silas; he was a friend & contemporary of Jane's father, Dr. Petty. She brought 2 of her 3 children from her previous marriage to Silas's home. Her son, William Jasper (Bill) Ellington, Sr. followed in Silas's footsteps & became a lawyer & a judge.
SILAS & "Jane" had these 3 children:

~~Sallie E. Vaught, (m: West) b: 9-16-1887; d: 10-5-1972;
~~Henry "Grady" Vaught, b: 12-12-1889; d: 2-14-1962. Grady's grave has not been listed as-of-yet on find-a-grave. Here is his information: He was married to Cora Peel (daughter of John Wesley Peel & Mary Frances Robbins Peel) on July 12, 1909. They had 4 children: Nellie, Perry, Crystal, & Opal. He died in Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi & was buried there.
