BIRTH     1753, Louisa County, Virginia, USA
DEATH     16 Jul 1847 (aged 93–94), Buncombe County, North Carolina, USA
David Gentry & Elizabeth Whitlock from Louisa County Virginia the first Gentry in this area. John Norment Gentry asks to be buried in the burying ground on the hill near the old Gentry House where his Mother and Father was Buried. There are many unmarked graves in this cemetery so is not proven but it is pretty good circumstancial evidence . It is my hope to bring some focus into who these unmarked graves belong to as these people are my ancestors.

I am not cert ain that this SAR application relates to the same David Gentry. His mother's name is wrong and his wife's name appears to be wrong, as well.

Blackston/Blaxton Gentry and Nancy Hough appeared in the census of 1830 at Mount Washington, Bullitt Co., Kentucky, USA;
Haxton [sic] Gentry in the 1830 United States Federal Census

There is a James GENTRY on line 2 of this page, who may be Blaxton's son. In addition to Blaxton and James, there are several other GENTRY households in the 1830 federal census for Mount Washington, Bullitt Co., KY, including two woman-headed households:
1. Joseph GENTRY p. 130, line 13 ***
2. Nancy GENTRY p. 128, line 9 <<<
3. Nicholas GENTRY p. 109, line 25 ***
4. Rhoda GENTRY p. 126, line 16 <<<
5. Samuel GENTRY p. 109, line 10 ***
6. Wyatt GENTRY p. 124, line 21

In addition to James, three of these may also be sons of Blaxton (see ***): Joseph, Nicholas, and Samuel.

I assume that the two woman-headed households (see <<<) are widows and GENTRY is possibly their married name.
-- A Rhoda HARRIS m. John GENTRY in 1804 in Bullitt Co. I have no information if this Rhoda or John were alive in 1830.
-- I have records of at least three GENTRY wives named Nancy and living in 1830, but exclude on of them here (Nancy HOUGH (1789-1853), wife of Blaxton GENTRY). The other two I have found so far are:
1. Nancy MNU (1791-1850) wife of Jesse GENTRY
2. Nancy GUTHRIE (1799-1881) wife of Richard GENTRY

There were at least two Wyatt GENTRYs possibly alive at this and possibly in Bullitt Co., KY. I do not have enough information to determine if either of these might be the one in Mount Washington.
1. Wyat GENTRY, son of Nathan and Marianne (BLACK), b. 15 Mar 1781 per Gentry [1909:44]
2. Wyatt GENTRY, son of John and an unknown wife, settled in Clinton Co., IN. per Gentry [1909:67]
