She was a witness to Per Young [2011:1029-30]:
"Joseph Young [Y3], son of Nathaniel Young and Patty Crawford, was born in 1780 or 1781 in 96 District (which became Spartanburg Co in 1785) in SC. Since census records indicate that Joseph's birth date is very close to the 29 July 1781 birth date of his brother Thomas [Y4], they may have been twins. Joseph moved to Maury Co TN with his brother Nathaniel in 1805, or soon after. He was named with Nathaniel to serve on jury duty in March 1809 in Maury Co. See Nathaniel's biography. Joseph moved to Giles Co by 1820, and bought 200 acres at Bradshaw in May 1821. He was summoned for jury duty in Giles Co in August 1824 and was a farmer. He married Sarah "Sally" _____ by 1808. Since he lived in Maury Co about 1808, and there is no record of his marriage in that Co, they must have married in Spartanburg Co soon before coming to TN. Sally was born 24 January 1786 in SC and died in Giles Co on 15 July 1857; she was buried in Center Point Cemetery at Bradshaw, about two miles from the home of Joseph's brother John Archibald Young [Y1]. Joseph was a devoted family man; he and his son posted bond as guardians of William A Young [Y1b1], "orphan of John Young deceased" in November 1838. And on 12 September 1857, he gave land and slaves to his two children. On 23 December 1858 Joseph was married (by L D Harwell) to Lucy McKnight. She was born in NC in 1803. Joseph and his new wife Lucy were not found after 1860. Because of his advanced age, Joseph had probably died in the 1860s at Bradshaw where he lived for over forty years. Since his first wife and his brother Thomas are buried in Center Point Cemetery, Joseph was probably also, even though his grave has not been found. His known children were:
a. William C Young, b 1809
b. Nancy Young, b abt 1809 (VS,1z,10y, 15iknqzmcy)"
with Joseph Young at Citation.3,4

Sarah "Sally" Key and Joseph Young appeared in the census of 1800 at Spartanburg Co., South Carolina, USA; There is a William (line 17), two Johns (lines 12 and 13), and a Thomas Younge (line 4) on this page. William and one of the Johns were brothers. The Thomas enumerated is listed as 45 and over, so too old to be their brother Thomas. Of the two Johns, one (line 12) is listed as aged 26-44. The second (line 13) is younger - listed as aged 16-25. Thus the one on line 12 best matches John Archibald Young, the brother of William (line 17). The Thomas on line 4 is probably their uncle. The second John (line 13) is unidentified.

It was put up for sale Wednesday, 14 August 1872. This was only a small portion of the over 300 acres of land William owned. In his will he directed his debts be paid from the sale of land & the residue of the land left to go to his widow Elizabeth.
William was my 3rd great grandfather. His daughter Ann Eliza married William B. Chiles on 29 October 1865, a few weeks after his resignation as Justice of the Peace. They were my 2nd great grandparents & eventually left Tennessee for Texas, as did several of her siblings.

with Joseph Young at Citation.5,6

Reference: Per Young [2011:1149-50]:
"William C Young [Y3a], son of Joseph Young and Sarah _____, was born about 1809 in TN, likely Maury or Giles Co very soon after his parents arrived from SC, William was called William Young Sr since he had a younger cousin of the same name (William Young [Y4g], born in 1817) who lived in the same neighborhood in the 1830s. About 1831 William married Elizabeth Kennedy; William's sister Nancy Young [Y3b] married William Kennedy about 1824, son of John Kennedy and Sarah Britton. There is yet no evidence that Nancy's husband was a brother of Elizabeth Kennedy. The family bible passed down by William's son John listed William's wife's name as Elizabeth Kennedy. Elizabeth was born in 1814 in TN, and was alive in 1880 in Giles Co living with her daughter Elizabeth. Her father was from VA, and mother from NC. In 1835 William was living along Bradshaw Creek, for he sold 137 acres there in February of that year. This was land two doors from John Archibald Young [Y1], and next door to John Abernathy. In 1840 William lived next door to Nancy Paxton, the widow of William's cousin Nathaniel Young [Y1a], and next to Nathaniel's brother Archibald Smith Young [Y1j]. In August 1844 "William Young Sr" sold a 65 acre tract on Bradshaw Creek to Hardin Griggs. This was the southeast corner of William's father's land which was deeded to William. These land transactions over the years show that William and his wife Elizabeth spent most of their lives at Beech Hill, where he was a farmer. In 1855 William was named to be the executor in the will of Sterling Huff, father of Rebecca Huff.
"Soon after 25 April 1865 William died. Giles Co Chancery Court Woodruff files M through N, 1830-1900, Case 2975, shows that in 1871 Wesley R Moore of Giles Co sued Joseph & Alfred A Young, Executors of William C Young, deceased over unpaid debts William C owed Mr Moore. In this suit, people named were Elizabeth Young, James C Burgess & wife Margaret, John Clark & wife Amanda, John Rea & wife Mary Irene, John A Young, Lizzie Moore, and Sallie Finley, all of Giles County, A R Moore & wife Nance E in TX, L B Erwin & wife Martha Ann in IL, William B Chiles & wife Eliza of Marshall Co TN, defendants and widow and children of William Young, deceased. William’s land and personal property were sold for payment of debts. The land was sold under orders of Chancery Court. Also, in 1886, J C Rea & wife vs Joseph Young, Complainants, stated that William
Young died in Giles County during the year 1865, testate, leaving his widow Elizabeth and his children, to wit: Mary J, wife of J C Rea; Martha A, wife of L B Erwin; Nancy E, wife of A R Moore; Margaret K, wife of J C Burgess; Elizabeth or Eliza, wife of W B Chiles; Amanda, wife of John Clark (T J Clark & wife Lizzie, and Sarah, wife of John Lemmons, the last two being grandchildren); Joseph Young; Alfred A Young; and John Young, sons of William Young, deceased. Elizabeth, widow of testator, died in 1885, Joseph and Alfred A Young qualified as executors of her will. By the will of testator, she intended for his children to share equally in his estate. William Young was the owner of 330 acres of land in the 10th District on the waters of Bradshaw Creek. 200 acres was sold at the death of Mr. Young, 130 acres remained to be sold at the death of widow Elizabeth Young. The land was sold to W M Bradford and W T Holly, under orders of Chancery Court. Mary J Rea and her husband J C Rea lived in Van Zandt Co TX. Martha A wife of L B Erwin, died in Van Zandt Co TX on 8 September 1888. Martha A left one son David, who was then thirty five years of age. L B Erwin was living in Red River Co TX in 1891. Lizzie Rea, who married first T J Clark, married second C W Edgerton of Van Zandt Co on March 12, 1889. A R and Amanda were residing in Red River Co TX in 1891.Graves for William C and Elizabeth have not been found, but may be on his farm if not in the Beech Hill or Bradshaw Cemeteries. They had twelve children:
1. Martha Ann Young, b 1833
2. Joseph S Young, b 1835
3. Sarah Young, b 11 Mar 1837
4. Alfred Asbury Young, b 1839
5. Malissa Young, b 1841
6. Mary Irene Young, b 1842
7. Nancy Elizabeth Young, b 21 Apr 1844
8. Margaret K Young, b 11 Apr 1846
9. Ann Elizabeth Young, b 30 Nov 1846
10. John Archie Young, b 27 Jul 1850
11. Amanda J Young, b 1852
12. Elizabeth Young, b 1854

In 1870 widow Elizabeth (Kennedy) Young’s granddaughter Sallie Finley [Y3a3a] lived with her and two of her children in District 10, Giles Co. In 1880 Sallie lived with her aunt Elizabeth Young [Y3a12], William C’s youngest daughter. (58,FG, VS,LL, 15iknqrswyz)" at Citation.7
; Per Young [2011:948]: "Gardner witnessed a 10 March 1840 land and slave transaction between the above Joseph Young, John Holley (husband of Dolly's sister Mary T Young) and William Young Sr [Y3a]; the witness was William Young, brother of Dolly. These men lived at Bradshaw, so Gardner and Dolly must have lived there also."

William C. Young was listed as a resident in Joseph Young and Sarah "Sally" Key's household in the census report on 7 August 1820 at Giles Co., Tennessee, USA; On the same page as his brother, Nathaniel Young (line 32), his brother Joseph (line 44), and an unknown young Rufus (line 33).

Nancy Young was born circa 1809 at Maury Co., Tennessee, USA.1

Ara K. Caruthers was born in 1813 at Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, USA.1 She married John Chumney Young, son of Thomas Xavier Young and Sarah Chumney, on 20 April 1835 at Lincoln Co., Tennessee, USA.1

     Reference: Per Young [2011:1019]:
"John Chumner Young [Y4d], son of Thomas Young and Sarah _____ was born 4 December 1808 in Spartanburg Co SC. He moved to Maury Co TN with his family when he was about eight years old, then to Giles Co in the 1820s. John married Ara Katherine Caruthers in Lincoln Co on 20 April 1835. She was born in Giles Co TN in 1813, daughter of William Caruthers. John was a farmer. He (and Ara?) and three children (William T, Sarah M, and Ara K D T) moved to Lamar Co TX in the 1850s. John’s wife Ara was not with them in 1860, and had probably died by then. Sons Robert and Richard were also not found in 1860, so perhaps they had died of the same illness which killed their mother. They had six children-
