The Brashears were Huguenots and had many name variants. aka Brasseur, Brashear, Broshear, Beshear, Brashier
Son of Samuel Brashear Jr and Elizabeth Brashear.
Otho Brashear was born on 17 June 1735 in Prince George County, Maryland.
Otho Brashear married Ruth Browne, daughter of Thomas Browne and Ann Brashear, circa 1754.
Around 1770 Otho and Ruth Brashear moved to Yohogania County, Virginia. The present day location of their land is Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Otho's 439 acres of land joined the land of Thomas and Bazil Browne and was between Redstone and Dunlap Creeks.
WIKITREE NOTE: Otho's children were prominent around Brownsville, PA. County histories include their stories. Otho lived near Dunlap Creek and was neighbor to Samuel Miller.
Otho Brashear was one of the organizers of a Church of Christ in Redstone Township on 1 February 1784. Some research credits Otho and Ruth with as many as 22 children. However, many are said to have died young with no records left of their names. A deed in connection with Otho's estate mentions 10 children survived to adulthood, but only lists 8 children by name.
Otho Brashear died before 12 December 1792 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
Dec 1800 Orphan's Court of Fayette Co. Pa p.37 shows Bazel Brown and Bazel Brasears administrators for Otho Brashears of Menallen Twp deceased.
"This page is old! We are a Museum & an unsorted Archive"......
Notes on that page provide some interesting historical connection for Brown families.
Ruth's father was Thomas Brown and her mother Ann Brashear. The groupsheet also shows Otho with additional spouse Mary Brown.

Thomas Brown Jr was the founder of Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. On his stone indicates that he was the owner. It would be interesting to learn how he managed to 'own' the town. The long standing tombstone in Brownsville attests to his being the founder.
He fought in the Revolutionary War, in Captain Andrew Swearingen's Company.
Andrew Swearingen served in the American Revolutionary War in the rank of Captain. He was also a Ranger. He served under Lieutenant Colonel Dit was Thomas Sr, he would have been 70 [too old to march on foot and fight?].
Assuming it was Thomas Jr, he would have been 40.

DAR line 40233: "Thomas Brown served in the militia of Prince George Co death date of his son, Thomas Brown Jr.
Thomas Jr was a husband to Ruth Brashear. They were intermarried in Talbot, Prince George's County, Maryland.
