"The vicomté of Oloron, adjacent to the vicomté of Béarn in south-central Gascony, is first recorded in the late 10th century. It lay on "la plaine du Gave" and included "Oloron, Navarrenx et Sauveterre, les vallées d’Aspe, d’Ossau, de Josbaig et de Barétous", except for "Lanne et le Barlanès" which formed part of the vicomté de la Soule[336]. The vicomtés passed to the vicomtes de Béarn in the mid-11th century through the marriage of its heiress to Centule [IV] Vicomte de Béarn.
"ANER [Aznar] Sancho, son of SANCHO --- & his wife --- . "Aner Sano vicecomes…" subscribed the charter dated 978 under which "Gumboldus episcopus…regionis dux" confirmed an exchange of property between the monks of La Réole and his vassal "Arsia" with the advice of "fratrum…Willelmus Sancio dux"[337]. Jaurgain states that Aznar Sancho was the son of Sancho Garcia Duke of Gascony[338]. However, he cites no primary source which confirms that this is correct.

; Per Med Lands:
"Infante don JAIME de Aragón, son of PEDRO II King of Aragon & his wife Marie de Montpellier (Montpellier 1 Feb 1208-Valencia 27 Jul 1276, bur Poblet, monastery of Nuestra Señora). The Crónica de San Juan de la Peña names "Jaime" as son of Pedro II King of Aragon and his wife "la filla del noble princep Don Guillem de Montpeller…Maria, nieta del Emperador de Costantin noble"[367]. The Chronicle of Ramon Muntaner names "Jacques…roi d´Arragon…fils [de] Pierre roi d´Arragon et de…madame Marie de Montpellier"[368]. The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines names "rex Iacobus Arragonensis" as son of "rege Petro Arragonum" & his wife[369]. The Thalamus de Montpellier records the birth 1 Feb 1207 (probably O.S.) of "Jacme rei dAragon lo fill de la regina dona de Montpellier"[370]. A "Chronique en Languedocien, tirée du cartulaire de Raymond le Jeune comte de Toulouse" records the birth in 1208 of "Jacmes Peire reis d´Arago"[371]. His father gave him into the custody of Simon de Montfort, who governed Béziers and Carcassonne in the King of Aragon’s name after their conquest in 1209, at Carcassonne. He succeeded his father in 1213 as JAIME I "el Conquistador" King of Aragon, Conde de Barcelona, Gerona, Osona, Besalú, Comte de Cerdagne/Cerdaña et de Roussillon. After his release from Carcassonne and return to Catalonia was negotiated, the Templars of Monzón took charge of him, with his great uncle Sancho acting as Regent. He conquered Mallorca from the Moors, the city of Mallorca falling 31 Dec 1229 after a prolonged siege. The Chronicle of Narbonne Saint-Paul records that "insula Majoricarum" was captured in 1230 by "dominum Jacobum"[372]. He proclaimed himself King of Mallorca 1230, deposing the wali Abu Yahya Hiqem. He launched the conquest of Valencia from Monzón Oct 1236, the city finally surrendering to a siege 28 Sep 1238. Proclaimed King of Valencia 1238. The Moors of Alicante offered to submit to him 1240, but Jaime refused on the grounds of his agreements with the King of Castile. He renounced all his rights in Occitania (except Montpellier and the Carladès) by the treaty of Corbeil May 1258 with Louis IX King of France. “Geoffroi I was the son of Etienne de Vaux, sire de Joinville, and a lady of the Brienne family. With his wife Blanche de Reynel, daughter of Arnoul, comte de Reynel, he had several sons of whom Hilduin, Roger and Geoffroi II would have progeny.
“In the second third of the 11th century (in 1055 according to the medieval Cistercian chronicler Aubry de Trois-Fontaines), Geoffroi coveted the territory of Bolenois then belonging to the counts of Bolenois, lords of Sexfontaines. Following a battle, Geoffroi was captured and his son Hilduin was killed. In his chronicle Aubry informs us that Geoffroi lived another twenty-six years and that his son (presumably Hilduin) left three young children: Gautier, Wicher and Hesceline.
“Geoffoi had the bad habits of his father, taking religious property and income from institutions for which he was steward, particularly those of the monks of the Abbey of Montier-en-Der. His father had been threatened with excommunication for his atrocities against the religious, and Pope Leo IX (Bruno, former bishop of Toul) repeated his threats of anathema against Geoffroi.
“Two churches had been founded by Etienne, and Geoffroi also attempted to make amends and re-establish his relations with the Church. He asked the abbot of Der to pass over to him some church benefices, and to show his goodwill he restored the abbey of Dommartin to the abbot.
“The monks, greatly appeased, granted to Geoffroi and two of his heirs for their lifetime the churches of Trémilly, Ragecourt, Fays and Gourzon. The sentence above the charter signatures of Geoffroi and his followers reads 'signum Goffridi, cum sui fidelibus'. By the end of his life Geoffroi had completely changed his behaviour. He gave back the church at Wassy that his ancestors had taken from the bishops of Châlons.
“Geoffroi died about 1080.”.1

; This is the same person as ”Geoffroy Ier de Joinville” at at Wikipédia (FR).8
