      ; "Thomas and Eleanor moved from Abb's Valley to Burk's
Garden(Tazwell Co., Va.) in 1780. His grandfather, Thomas, had
settledhere 30 years before. In April 1782, Thomas' wife, Eleanor,three
small children and two negroes were carried away by a bandof
Shawnees led by Black Wolf. Mrs. Ingles, little Mary andWilliam were
tomahawked. Mrs. Ingles recovered, but the twochildren died. Rhoda,
the baby, was protected by her mother'sbody as she fell and was
unharmed. Soon after this Thomas, hiswife and infant daughter, moved
on west to Knoxville, and laterto Port Gibson, Mississippi Territory,

The Earl m 2nd, Jean, widow of 2nd Ld Methven (see MORAY, E) and dau of Patrick, Ld Ruthven (see RUTHVEN OF FREELAND, L.), and by her had a daughter.
