Inscription: Here Lies the Bodies of William Macon and Mary His Wife. He was born 11th November 1794 & departed this life in the 79th year November of his Age 1773. She was born 18 June 1703 and departed this Life 19 November 1770. They were married 24th September 1719. Had issue Ann, Martha, Mary, William Henry Elizabeth Sarah Mary Judy Hartwell & Anna of whom two are interred near this place viz. Ann who died 9 November 1736 Ages 16 and Mary who died 29th January 1733 Aged 9 year.

"Encyclopedia of Virginia Biography, Volume I, IV-Burgesses and Other Prominent Persons", page 282: "Macon, William, son of Gideon Macon, was born November 11, 1694 and was Burgess for New Kent County in 1736-1740. He married Mary Hartwell September 24, 1719, and had two sons William and Henry, and six daughters, Ann, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Judy."
William was a Vestryman of Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, Virginia, a Chief Justice of the Peace (1729) in New Kent County, Sheriff (1725), Member of the House of Burgess (1735-1746) in Williamsburg, VA., and built the new family mansion Mount Prospect on the mainland of the original homestead property in 1725.
He lived in Gideon's house on Macon's Island until the house that he built, Mount Prospect, was completed in 1725 where he was living when he died.

Ann who died 9 November 1736 Ages 16 and Mary who died 29th January 1733 Aged 9 year.

"Encyclopedia of Virginia Biography, Volume I, IV-Burgesses and Other Prominent Persons", page 282: "Macon, William, son of Gideon Macon, was born November 11, 1694 and was Burgess for New Kent County in 1736-1740. He married Mary Hartwell September 24, 1719, and had two sons William and Henry, and six daughters, Ann, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Judy."
William was a Vestryman of Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, Virginia, a Chief Justice of the Peace (1729) in New Kent County, Sheriff (1725), Member of the House of Burgess (1735-1746) in Williamsburg, VA., and built the new family mansion Mount Prospect on the mainland of the original homestead property in 1725.
He lived in Gideon's house on Macon's Island until the house that he built, Mount Prospect, was completed in 1725 where he was living when he died.
"Macon, William, son of Gideon Macon, was born November 11, 1694 and was Burgess for New Kent County in 1736-1740. He married Mary Hartwell September 24, 1719, and had two sons William and Henry, and six daughters, Ann, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Judy."
