In 1195 he was in charge of the castle of Bleddfa in the March, now county Radnor. In 1196, he and Roger de Mortimer, of Wigmore, were defeated near Radnor by the Welsh prince Rhys. Also in 1196, he was assessed to the third acutage of the army in Normandy, and seems to have been living in the early part of 1197, but died before Michaelmas that year. His widow Mabel Marmion married again but died before Michaelmas 1210. [end quote]
