William Eltonhead was born circa 1615 at Lancashire, England.1,2 He married Jane Fenwick before 15 November 1649 at St. Mary's Co., Maryland, USA,
; Her 3rd of 3 husbands.5
William Eltonhead died on 14 May 1657 at Annapolis, Anne Arundel Co., Maryland, USA; Dillow says d 14 May 1657; Early Col. Settlers says d 25 Mar 1655.1,2
; per Dillow: "My 9th great grandparents are Martha Eltionhead that married Edwin Conway. Martha is the daughter of Richard Eltonhead and Anne Sutton. I am attempting to trace Richard Eltonhead's lineage but there appears to be several generations going to Henry Eltonhead, first I see of the line.

According to another persons research the following is noted.
" Parrin, in his Register of Maryland Heraldic Families Pages 273-277 shows that family of NORRES or NORRIS family were owners of the manor of Eltonhead. The origins of the NORRES family became Eltonhead and started in Sutton, Lancashire, England before the beginning of the reign of Henry III."

" In his comment on Eltonhead, Sir william Norres of Speke affirms that there were families in Sutton who had once carried the name of Norres but had given it up."

" The Eltonheads original crest was on a window in Chidwell Church, County, Lancashire. It displays the same crest as Sir Henry Norres who married Alice of Chester, daughter of Roger de Ernys."

I have as data, Richard Eltonhead was born ca 1582 in Eltonhead, Lancashire England and died 23 Sep 1664 in the same location, son of William Eltonhead and Anne Bowers. His wife Anne Sutton was born ca 1586 in Rushton, Staffordshire, England and died about 1686 in England. She is the daughter of Edward Sutton and Theodosia Harrington.

Richard Eltonhead and Anne Sutton had five daughters that came to Virginia and a brother William Eltonhead that came to Maryland.

Children:
i. William Eltonhead born ca 1615 in Lancashire, England and died 14 May 1657 in Calvert Co., MD. He was a member of the Maryland Council.

ii. Agatha Eltonhead m (1) Luke Stubbins ; (2) Ralph Wormley, Sr; (3) Henry Chicheley.

iii. Alice Eltonhead m (1) Rowland Burham; (2) Henry Corbin; 93) Henry Creyke.

iv. Martha Eltonhead m (1) Edwin Conway (my grandparents) ; m (2) William Stanard.

v. Jane Eltonhead m (1) Robert Moryson; (2) Cuthbert Fenwick.

vi. Eleanor Eltonhead m (1) Col. John Carter; (2) Capt. William Brocus.

Any information on the Eltonhead line are others kin to the ones mentioned I would like to hear from.

To Teresa, personalty.
To Mr. Starkey, Mr. Fitzherbert, and brother — Eltonhead, personalty.
Ex. not given.
Test: Francis Anketill, Eliza: Gerrard.

Editors: Cuthbert Fenwick was transported to Maryland from Virginia as a servant of Thos. Cornwallys, Esq. in 1633 [sic] (Patents AB&H:94,244, Skordas). According to AB & H:244, Thomas' Cornwaleys [sic], Esq. came to Maryland on the ship Ark in 1634 with his partner Mr. John Saunders, who died during the voyage , and 12 servants (ibid.) (See also the The Ark and the Dove). Cuthbert was later a member of the Maryland legislature. Jane was his second wife (see her will, Calendar, Vol. I, Page 14-27), and the name of his first wife is not known. He apparently married Jane after 1648, she having immigrated to Maryland in 1649 (Patents Q:115, ibid.) According to "The Corbin Family," published in Genealogies of Virginia Families (22:322), Jane was the daughter of Richard Eltonhead of Eltonhead, who appears in the 1663-4 Visitation of Lancashire, England, thus sister of William Eltonhead, a member of the Maryland Council. Other siblings named were her sister, Eleanor, who married first Capt. William Brocas, and second, Col. John Carter, both men members of the Virginia Council; her sister Agatha, who married first Ralph Wormelely of Rosegill, Middlesex; and second Sir Henry Chichley, Governor of Virginia; her sister, Martha, who married Edwin Conway of Lancaster County, Virginia (formerly of Worcestershire); and her sister, Alice, who married first Roland Burnham, then Henry Corbin and third, Henry Creyke.

Sir Edmund Mortimer Knt. was born between 9 November 1376 and 1377 at Ludlow, Shropshire, England.1 He married Catrin/Catherine Glyndwr (?), daughter of Owain Glyn Dwr ap Gruffydd Prince of Wales and Margaret Hanmer, circa November 1402.1,3

Sir Edmund Mortimer Knt. died on 13 May 1411 at Harlech Castle, Shropshire, England.1
; Apparently Edmund was captured by Owain Glyndwr, Prince of Wales, and the English were reluctant to pay a ransome. This was possibly because of his family being in line to the throne. During his captivity he defected to Owain's side and married Catrin, Owain's daughter, which was quite a coup for Owain. Edmund was eventually killed at the per van de Pas: "siege of Harlech Castle fighting for Owain."1

     Alduin/Hilduin (?) Abbé de Saint-Denis died after 866.2
      ; Per Med Lands:
"HILDUIN [Audouin] (-after 866). Abbot of Saint-Denis before 866: the Chronicle of Adémar de Chabannes records that Charles II "le Chauve" King of the West Franks installed "Vulgrimnum propinquum suum, fratrem Aldoini abbatis ex monasterio Sancti Dionisi" with "Engolisme et Petragorice" after Comte Emenon was killed (in 866)[218]. [Abbé de Saint-Médard de Soissons [866]: a charter of Charles II “le Chauve” King of the West Franks relating to Soissons Saint-Médard refers to “Hildvuinus antiquior abba”[219]. This document is undated, although Lot states that “on peut affirmer avoir été donné entre mai 870 et août 871”[220]. As discussed above under Hilduin’s brother Vulfard, it is possible that “Hildvuinus” in this document was the same person as Hilduin abbot of Saint-Denis.] "
