In 932 he did homage to Raoul, king of France and duke of Burgundy, and he was created duke of Aquitaine, count of Auvergne, and margrave of Gothia, even though Guillaume 'Towhead' claimed the ducal title as well (Guillaume would become duke of Aquitaine as Guillaume III from 962 until his death the following year.) In 936 Raymond founded the monastery of Chanteuges. Between 940 and 941 he controlled Auvergne. In 944, when Hugues 'the Great', duke of The Franks, and Louis IV d'Outremer', king of France, entered Aquitaine, Hugues met Raymond at Nevers and confirmed his titles while Raymond returned with Louis to the royal court. Raymond married Garsinda, daughter of Garcia II Sánchez II, count of Gascony, and Amunda d'Agen. He was succeeded by his son Raimund IV. Raymond died after 944.2

Ce dernier document impose de modifier la chronologie et les historiens1 considèrent que Donat Loup était un comte de la fin du ixe siècle, plutôt que du début ou du milieu.
"Il est certain que son père se nomme Loup2, qui peut être identifié à Loup père de Raymond Loup, comte de Pallars en 884, d’Unifred et de Dadilde, mariée au roi García II de Navarre. Sa mère serait alors Bella, petite fille probable de Bello, comte de Carcassonne. Chronologiquement, ce Loup est probablement petit-fils du duc Loup Centulle.

His patronymic is confirmed by the charter of his wife dated Dec [865] (see below). The Vita Hludowici Imperatoris records that Emperor Louis I sent "Elisachar abbatem et Hildebrandum comitem…et Donatum" to suppress the revolt of "Aizone" in the March of Spain [in 827][154]. The Vita Hludowici Imperatoris records that Emperor Louis I sent "Bonifatius comes et Donatus…comes…et Adrebaldus Flaviniacensis monasterii abbas" as missi to Septimania [in 838][155].

"Dompna Faquilo" donated property to the monastery of Saint-Orens de Lavedan, for the souls of "Mansionis…Donati Lupi comiti…et filiis meis et filias", by charter dated Dec [865], subscribed by "Dattonis Donati comitis, Luponis, Luponis Centuli"[156].
