     PIONEER DIES HERE TODAY - FUNERAL OF MRS. M. C. MIDDLETON TO BE HELD AT 10: O'CLOCK WEDNESDAY MORNING AT MORGAN HOME
     Mrs. Marjorie C. Middleton, 83 years old, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Morgan, 312 North Main Street.
Funeral services will be conducted at l0 a.m. Wednesday at the Morgan home by Rev. H. W. Jordan, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Carlsbad Cemetery.
     Mrs. Middleton was a pioneer resident of Eddy County. She came here in 1898 with her husband who was one of the early day ranchers in this vicinity.
She had been ill for several years and her conditions had been considered serious for the last two weeks. All members of the family except one son, Lee Middleton, of Huntington Park, Calif., were here at the time of her death. He will be unable to attend the funeral services.
Besides Mrs. Morgan and Lee Middleton, Mrs. Middleton is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Ned Shattuck and Mrs. Dave McCollum, both of Carlsbad, and Mrs. H. H. Ezell, of Beaumont, Tex; and five other sons, J. P. Middleton and Tom Middleton, both of Carlsbad; F. A. Middleton, La Harba, Calif; Dr. J. R. Middleton, Menard, Tex; and Ross Middleton, of Weed.
     She is also survived by 37 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
