Henry Corbin Gent.
17 Century colonial American immigrant.11

Henry Corbin Gent.
Henry arrived from England in 1654 on the ship "Charity" and settle Middlesex Co., VA.

It has been family tradition that Henry was married several times but only lists the children from his wife Alice Eltonhead, daughter of Richard Eltonhead and widow of Roland Burnham. According from information obtained through the book ALLIED FAMILIES Henry and Alice were married on July 25, 1645 but this information has been questioned in the book LEES OF VIRGINIA which states, ( If Henry Corbin was married only once, and that the wife was the widow of Roland Burnham, first of York and later of Langcaster, then he could not have been married before 1656, because Roland Burnmans will dated February 12, 1655 was probated in Langcaster on January 14, 1656 ) turned into Middlesex County.12 GAV-9.

Joseph Crow and Sarah Rawley Humphreys
From Roll email 3 Aug 1998: [QUOTE]I have a picture of Rawley Crow, his two marriage entrys, his Masonic petition, and census' for 1880 and 1890 I believe. There are several variations on Rawley's spelling...even different on his two marriages. It is spelled "Rolly, Raleigh, and Rawley. Rawley owned a store in Callaway County named R. H. Crow & Company. He sent pigs and grain by barge down the MO. river to St. Louis. ... His first wife was Lucinda Boyd and she probably died in child birth and then he married Susan A. Gray. 9-7-1855. Rawley's parents, Joseph & Sarah Humphreys came from Nelson County, KY. and settled in Callaway County and built a house in 1819 near Wainright.
I knew that Martha had married Charles Hart but have no information on them on down and now I know why since they moved away.
Let me know what you would like for me to send you as will be most happy to do so. I have info on a couple of Martha siblings but not all of them.
     Thanks again! Sandy [END QUOTE]
Roll, Sandy S. ms "Descendants of Joseph Crow", 6 Aug 1998: "Joseph Crow came to MO in the year 1819 and settled in Callaway Co., MO. With him was his wife, Sarah Rawley Humphreys, and their slaves. The built a two story log house which is still standing today near Wainright, MO.3,13

Joseph Crow and Martha Humphry

Info from Mary J. Edwards Hermsen (ms) gives a Martha HUMPHREY (dau George HUMPHREY and Elizabeth JOLLY) as spouse of a Joseph CROW - Dates are about right for this Joseph Crow. However, I have found a record for a Martha HUMPHREY who seems to have married another Joseph CROW, and both of whom died in Louisa Co., IA per their FIind A Grave memorials. I don't believe that this Martha married my Joseph CROW. GA Vaut.14,15,16,17

Joseph Crow lived in 1819 at Callaway Co., Missouri, USA; settled in Callaway Co.8

Joseph Crow appeared in the census of 1820 at Shelby Co., Kentucky, USA;
Note: This Joseph CROW is not of the right age (26-45, not 21), but the number of children (2 females born in or before 1820) seems correct (if the daughters Mary A. and Elizabeth were born in/before 1820). All the rest of Joseph and Sarah's children were [born after 1820,so wouldn't have appeared in the 1820 census.

Sarah Rawley Humphreys and Joseph Crow
The built a two story log house which is still standing today near Wainright, MO.5,10

Sarah Rawley Humphreys
I have tentatively assigned Sarah as a daughter of Rawleigh and Mary "Polley" (FERGUSON) HUMPHREY. This is based on several items of circumstantial evidence:
     1) Sarah's middle name was "Rawley" (Raleigh?)
     2) Sarah and her husband (Joseph CROW), named a son "Rawley "Rolla" Humphreys" CROW
     3) Sarah was born in 1798, while Rawleigh and Mary "Polly" were married in 1797
     4) Sarah married Joseph in KY and Rawleigh and Mary "Polley" were living in KY when they married (though they may later have moved to VA).
     5) Some Ancestry family trees list a daughter named Sarah born c1800 for Raleigh and Mary "Polly", though none of them cites any sources for this information.
     6) some contemporary records for her supposed father, Raleigh and his line, spell the family name as HUMPHRIES OR HUMPHREYS (e.g., 1800 Tax List for Washington Co., KY).11,12 GAV-3.

Sarah Rawley Humphreys

Another possible father of Sarah???
"HUMPHREYS. The children of John Humphreys of Greenbriar Co., VA., were Rachel, Samuel, James, William, Elizabeth and Polly. Richard married ELIZABETH NEVENS, and settled in Callaway Co., in 1818. Samuel married SUSAN SMART, and settled in Callaway Co. in 1821. The rest of the children settled in that county the same year."13,14,5

Sarah Rawley Humphreys was listed as a resident in Raleigh "Rolly" Humphrey and Mary Ann "Polly" Ferguson's household in the census report in 1810 at Washington Co., Kentucky, USA; p. 304, line 24
