Greg. Have just your interesting post on Ancestry.com. My Nancy Ann Ball was one of 4 daughters born to Mary Johnson and her first husband (William Johnson?). When Joseph Ball married the Widow Mary Johnson, he gave the name of Ball to Nancy Ann. Mary Ball was half-sister to Nancy Ann. Mary Johnson
was Joseph's second wife. It appears that Mary Johnson was not the biological mother of Georges

;      N. B. There is some confusion concerning the parents of the Elizabeth HUDSON who married Alexander "Sandy" PRATT. Some researchers believe the parents were Zadock and Mildred (Adkinson) HUDSON. This relationship has been posted on Elizabeth and Zadock's Find A Grave memorial pages and some family trees (e.g., THE Tom Pratt Family Tree). Others believe that Elizabeth's parents were David and Ann (Caswell) HUDSON (e.g., the Smith- Evans- Sanders- Ittner Family Tree).
     While I have so far found no definitive proof of who her parents were, I do not believe that they were Zadock and Mildred (Adkinson) HUDSON. Zadock was born in SC and his wife in TN. Zadock died in MS in 1855 and appears there in both the 1840 and 1850 federal censuses.
     On the other hand, Elizabeth was born in VA (1826) and married Alexander PRATT in Warren Co., MO in 1844. I find it unlikely that Elizabeth's parents would have moved to MS by 1840, but would have left her in VA (or in MO).
     Alexander's nephew, Thomas P. PRATT (son of Alexander's brother, Thomas Briscoe PRATT), married Susan Elvira HUDSON, the daughter of David and Anna (Caswell) HUDSON. Elizabeth (HUDSON) PRATT was born in VA in 1826. Susan Elvira (HUDSON) PRATT was born in VA in 1829. David and Anna (Caswell) HUDSON were traveling from Culpeper Co., VA to Warren Co., MO ca 1834 when David apparently died enroute. Their youngest sister, Virginia Ann HUDSON, was born in MO in 1835, after Ann (CASWELL) HUDSON had arrived. Finally, in the 1830 census for Culpeper Co., VA, David appears with two daughters aged "Under 5" (i.e., born after 1825). the daughters Elizabeth and Susan match this perfectly. His third daughter was born until around (or just after) the time he died ca 1834/5. The 1840 Census (Elkhorn Twp., Warren Co., MO) shows an Ann HUDSON (with no adult male), with 6 children that perfectly match the age distribution of all of the known children, plus a daughter of the age of Elizabeth (b1826).
     This circumstantial evidence leads me to believe that it is more credible to assume that Elizabeth B. (HUDSON) PRATT was the dau. of David and Ann (CASWELL) HUDSON, and not of Zadock and Mildred (Adkinson) HUDSON. GA Vaut.^{11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19}

     Find a Grave member #47608810 provided the following information: "1996 pictorial history of Muhlenberg County has several well written biographies of families. It does not list a place or date for John & Nancy Gilbert marriage. Of interest, it lists all the children as belonging to Nancy Gilbert beginning with George 1787, Elizabeth 1789, Rebecca 1790, Nancy 1792, William 1794, John 1802, Samuel 1804, Alfred 1806, Mary 1808."

     ; Many sources assign Nancy Gilbert (John Danks' 2nd wife) as the mother of George, Elizabeth, William, Rebecca Ann, and Nancy. However, Information is John remarried to Nancy Gilbert in 1801. So if the data on the birthdates of these first 5 children are correct, it seems more likely that these children were by his first wife, Ann Ross, and not by his 2nd wife, Nancy Gilbert. GA Vaut.¹⁰

     Is there a family relationship between the PRATT and HOWELL families?
     Is Martha E. (Stewart) HOWELL the same Martha E. who was the daugter of Grief Stewart and Mary Polly Cahal? If the two Marthas are the same person, then she was the aunt of Alexis's wife, Mary Elizabeth McGinnis (who was the dau. of Martha's sister, Leurena/Lurena Ann Stewart McGinnis).
     It also seems that the year of birth (1822) and birth state (Virginia) for each Martha is the same based on available evidence.
     The HOWELL and PRATT families were all living close to each other in 1860 and 1870.
-- James & Martha HOWELL appear in the 1860 federal census for Warrenton, Twp Warren Co., MO and they are on the same page as Martha E. Stewart's brother, Peter P. Stewart.
-- In the 1860 census, Grief Steward and his family were living in Elkhorn Twp., just next to Warrenton/Elkhorn.
-- In the 1870 census for Elkhorn Twp, Warren Co. Alexis's parents and family were in Hickory Grove, just next to Warrenton/Elkhorn.
-- In the 1880 federal census for Elkhorn Twp, Martha HOWELL, and Alexis and Mary E (McGinnis) PRATT are living in the same household.
Based on this evidence, I have concluded that the two Martha E. Stewarts were the same person.^4,5,6,7 The birth and death dates of James Howell and his wife Martha E. Stewart appear in the Pratt family Bible, along with the family of Alexis Briscoe Pratt.²
