He was sent as ambassador to Denmark, to negotiate the marriage of JAMES VI, in 1589. He founded the Marischal Coll in Aberdeen 1593, was Roy Commr to the Parliament of Scotland 1609; m 1st, Margaret, dau of 5th Ld Home (see HOME, E), and had, with other issue, WILLIAM, 5th Earl Marischal. He m 2nd, Margaret, dau of 5th Ld Oglivy of Airlie (see AIRLIE, E), by whom he had two sons. The Earl Marischal d 1623, and was s by his est son.¹
