Hugh Fraser 1st Lord Lovat married Violetta/Margaret Lyon, daughter of John Lyon 3rd Lord Glamis and Elizabeth Scrymgeour.1,2
; The family of Frazer (formerly Frisel) are of Norman descent. From East Lothian, their earliest abode in Scotland, they removed into Tweeddale in the 12th and 13th centuries, and subsequently into Co's Inverness and Aberdeen. A line of Frasers owned Oliver Castle, Co Peebles, in the 13th and beginning of the 14th century, the last of whom, Sir Simon, executed by order of EDWARD I in 1306, left two daus, co-heiresses; m to Hay, of Locherwort, and Fleming of Wigton (see BURKE's Dormant & Extinct Peerage, FLEMING, L.) The male succession was continued by the posterity of John Fraser, a yr bro of the family in the end of the 13th century, who was great-grandfather of Sir Simon Fraser, k at Halidonhill, 1333 (whose bro was Sir Alexander Fraser, Chamberlain of Scotland, and husband of Mary, sis of ROBERT BRUCE).2
