"ISABEL of Chilham (after 1245-18 Mar 1292). The primary source which confirms her parentage and two marriages has not yet been identified. She was heiress of her brother at Chilham. "Alexander de Balliol and Isabella his wife…going to Scotland" appointed attorneys for their affairs in England[639]. Leland quotes a manuscript which records the death "XV Kal Apr…apud Chilham" in 1292 of "Domina Isabella de Dovora comitissa de Assele" and her burial "Cantuar: in ecclesia Christi"[640]. ; DAVID OF STRABOLGI, 10TH EARL OF ATHOL, and 1st Ld de Strabolgi, made submission to EDWARD I, and on the surrender, 24 June 1307, by the Earl of Gloucester, the Earldom of Athol was restored to him by the English King. He received, in 1308, the thanks of EDWARD II, and played an important part in English affairs until 1312, receiving in February of that year a grant of the Manors of Elton and Cave, Co York. Before 29 Oct 1312, however, he joined ROBERT BRUCE in Scotland, by whom he was apptd Constable of Scotland, and witnessed as such two charters in Feb and March 1313. His English Manors were forfeited 3 May 1313. In 1314 he had a quarrel with ROBERT BRUCE, by whom his Earldom and Scottish estates were forfeited. On his return to England he was granted, 8 Oct 1314, the Manors of Aylsham, Causton, and Fakenhamdam in Norfolk, until he should recover his Scottish lands. In 1317, and subsequently, he sided with Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, against THE KING, for which he received a pardon, with others of the Earl's partisans, dated 22 Oct 1318. He recovered possession of the manor of Chilham 28 Nov 1321, and was granted, 18 Dec 1326, the courtesy of his wife's share of the heritage of her uncle Aymer de Valence, Earl of Pembroke. He sat in the Parliament which met at York, 20 Oct 1318 (12 EDWARD II), whereby the Barony of Starbolgi in England was cr, though he is named by Scottish title, "Le Counte de Asceles" (Earl of Athol). He was summoned to Parliament by writs directed "David de Strabolgi, comiti Athol," 14 March 1312-2, 26 Dec 1323, and 3 Dec 1326. He was Ch Warden of Northumberland 1322, and served with the English Army in Gascony 1325; m Joan (d shortly before 24 July, 1326), dau of John Comyn of Badenoch (by Joan, dau of William de Valence, Earl of Pembroke) and sis and co-heir of John Comyn of Badenoch, who fell at Bannockburn 1314, and had issue,

David de Strathbogie 11th Earl of Atholl, 2nd Lord de Strabolgi was born between 1 February 1308 and 1309 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England.1,2,3
David de Strathbogie 11th Earl of Atholl, 2nd Lord de Strabolgi died on 30 November 1335; slain in the conflict of Kilblane.1,7,2,3
; DAVID 11TH EARL OF ATHOL, and 2nd Ld de Strabolgi; b 1 Feb 1309, who was summoned to the English Parliament 25 Jan 1329-30 to 24 July 1334. He held estates in Co's Northumberland, York, Lincoln, Norfolk, Suffolk. Hertford and Buckingham, and received in 1330 from EDWARD III the Manor of Odogh in Ireland, part of the estate of his great-uncle Aymer, Earl of Pembroke. He accompanied Balliol to Scotland, was present at the battle of Dupplin 12 Aug 1332, and was restored by Balliol to his Scottish honours and estates. He was present at Balliol's Parliament 12 Feb 1334, and soon after was granted the lands of the Stewart of Scotland. In the same year he was made Lt of Scotland. Soon after the Stewart of Scotland and the Earl of Moray, joint Regents, defeated him at Lochaber, and forced him to take an oath of allegiance to KING DAVID. For this he was pardoned by EDWARD III at the treaty of peace 18 Aug 1335. He m Catherine, dau of Henry de Beaumont, Earl of Buchan (see BURKE's Dormant & Extinct Peerages, BEAUMONT, V). She defended Lochendorb Castle 1335-6, until relieved by EDWARD III, and d 11 Nov 1368. His Lordship was slain in the conflict of Kilblane 30 Nov 1335, and was succeeded by his only son.1 He was 11th Earl of Atholl. He was 2nd Lord de Strabolgi (in england.)1,2
