; Per Genealogics:
"Boleslaw I von Schlesien, duke of Oppeln, was born between 1254 and 1258, the third son of Wladislaw, duke of Oppeln (Opole), and Euphemia of Poland. Around 1277 he was named co-ruler of the duchy of Oppeln-Ratibor (Opole-Racibórz) by his father, despite being only the third son. After his father's death in 1282, Boleslaw and his brother Kasimir inherited Opole as co-rulers, while his other two brothers Mieszko I and Przemislaw inherited Racibórz also as co-rulers. The shared rule between Boleslaw and Kasimir lasted two years until 1284, when the formal division of their domains was implemented. Boleslaw retained the main city of Opole and Kasimir received Bytom.
"Before 1280 Boleslaw married Agnes, whose origins are unknown (though according to some sources she may have been a daughter of Otto III, Markgraf von Brandenburg). They had three sons of whom Boleslaw 'the Elder' and Boleslaw (Bolko) II would have progeny.
"For unrecorded reasons Boleslaw chose to follow different policies to his brothers; he began a close cooperation with his brother-in-law Henryk IV, Herzog von Schlesien zu Breslau. This was clearly revealed in the lengthy conflict between Heinrich IV and the bishop of Probusa, Thomas II Zaremba, in which Boleslaw actively supported Heinrich. In 1287, in the ongoing conflict with the Church's secular power, Boleslaw attempted to mediate between Henryk and the Church.
"On 30 September 1288 Leszek 'the Black', duke of Kraków and Sandomierz, died without issue. The first pretenders to the Kraków throne were initially Boleslaw II, duke of Masovia, duke of Plock, and Heinrich IV, Herzog von Schlesien zu Breslau. The military assistance of Dukes Wladislaw I Lokietek of Kuyavia (the future king of Poland) and Casimir II of Leczyca initially led to victory for Boleslaw II of Masovia. On 26 February 1289 an unexpected Silesian army under the command of Boleslaw I, duke of Opole, Henryk I-III von Schlesien, duke Glogowski, and his brother Przemko, duke of Scinawa, attacked Siewierz, counting on the support of the governor of Kraków, castellan Sulk 'the Bear'. The extremely bloody battle ended with the defeat of the Silesian troops. Duke Przemko of Scinawa was killed in battle and Boleslaw was seriously wounded and captured by Wladislaw I Lokietek, who released him one year later after payment of a large ransom.
"On 23 June 1290 Henryk IV, Herzog von Schlesien zu Breslau, died unexpectedly, probably poisoned. In his will he left his heritage to Henryk I-III von Schlesien, duke Glogowski, and Przemyslaw II, duke (and later king) of Poland. Boleslaw then decided on an alliance with Wenceslas II, king of Bohemia. On 17 January 1291 in Olomouc, a formal agreement was signed, in which Boleslaw, together with his brothers Miesko I and Kasimir, agreed to fight with their own troops against an enemy of the Premyslid dynasty. With this treaty they also gave homage to the Bohemian crown, though it is not known if this tribute was only to King Wenceslas II personally, or was extended to his successors. In subsequent years Boleslaw actively supported the Polish policies of the Bohemian king. In 1292 Boleslaw took part in the campaign at Sieradz against Wladislaw I Lokietek. War with Wladislaw I Lokietek resumed in 1296, when Boleslaw supported Henryk I-III von Schlesien, duke Glogowski, in his attempt to conquer Greater Poland.
"The close cooperation between the Bohemian kingdom and Boleslaw soon brought to him a significant higher profile in international politics. In 1297 he took part in the coronation of his protector King Wenceslas II, and was appointed as a mediator in the conflict between the Church hierarchies of Olomouc and Wroclaw. His importance reached its peak a year later, when he was sent to Mainz as representative of King Wenceslas II at the convocation of Electors which chose Albrecht I von Habsburg as the new German King. Later that year, Boleslaw supported his campaign against the deposed King Adolf von Nassau.
"In 1300 Boleslaw I took part in the visit of Wenceslas II to Greater Poland and his coronation as King of Poland. Shortly after, Boleslaw's faithful service were rewarded when he was appointed Starost (governor and the king's representative) of Kraków.
"The extinction of the Premyslid dynasty in 1306 broke the alliance of Boleslaw I with the Bohemian kingdom and he began to improve the already significantly closer relations with his neighbours. Soon after the death of King Wenceslas II, Boleslaw I could only obtain Wielun. He attempted to return to the political scene in 1311, at the beginning of the rebellion of Kraków against its duke Wladislaw I Lokietek. It is not known if Boleslaw heard the complaints of the burghers of Kraków against Wladislaw, and if he appeared in Lesser Poland in April 1312 following his own interests or as the governor appointed by the new Bohemian king Johann 'the Blind' of Luxembourg. In the event, Boleslaw soon returned to Opole, where he imprisoned the leader of the rebellion, wójt Albert.
"In his internal politics, Boleslaw was known mainly from his extraordinary generosity to the Church. In particular, he supported the Cistercian monastery in Jemielnica, and the Franciscan church, where he built the chapel of St. Anna. He also ensured the economic development of his duchy and granted German laws (Magdeburg Law) to many centres.
"Boleslaw I died on 14 May 1313 and was buried in the Franciscan church in Opole."2

"Boleslaw I died on 14 May 1313 and was buried in the Franciscan church in Opole."2
; Per Med Lands:
"BOLESLAW von Oppeln, son of WLADISLAW Duke of Oppeln & his wife Euphemia of Poland [Piast] ([1254/21 Oct 1258]-14 May 1313). The Chronicon Polono-Silesiacum names (in order) "Mesiconem Ratheborgensem, Casimirum Butomiensem, Boleslaum Opoliensem et Primislaum Oswetinensem duces" as the four sons of "Vlodeslaus duces Ratheborgenses" & his wife[502]. “Wladislaus filius Kazimiri...dux de Oppol...cum...coniuge nra Zusanna et filiis nris...Miskone Kazimiro et Boleslao” donated property to Ruda by charter dated 21 Oct 1258[503]. He succeeded his father in [1281/82] as BOLESLAW I Duke of Oppeln. In 1311, he gave military support to rebels in Krakow who aimed to restore Bohemian rule in Poland, but by summer 1312 the rebellion was crushed[504]. The necrology of Kloster Czarnowanz records the death 14 May of “Boleslaus dux Oppoliensis”[505].
"m ([1280]) AGNES, daughter of ---. According to Baumgarten, the wife of Duke Boleslaw was named GRIMISLAVA, citing only secondary sources in support[506]. He suggests that she was GRIMISLAVA Vsevolodovna, daughter of VSEVOLOD III Aleksandrovich Prince of Belz & his wife --- (-15 Apr ----), citing in support only secondary sources which he says refer to primary sources which can no longer be found[507]."
