; Per Wikipedia:
"Henry IV (II) the Faithful (c.?1292 – 22 January 1342) was a Duke of ?aga? and parts of Greater Poland from 1309 until 1317 (with his brothers in all the lands except G?ogów in different divisions among them), Duke of G?ogów from 1318 until 1321 (with his brother as co-ruler) and sole ruler over ?aga? from 1321 until his death.
"He was the oldest son of Henry III (I), Duke of G?ogów, by his wife Matilda, daughter of Albert I, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. The nickname of "Faithful" (Wierny) only was given to him in the 14th century chronicles.
Life
"Henry III prepared his eldest son in political affairs from his early years. In 1296 he took the four-years-old Henry with him to peace negotiations with the Duke W?adys?aw I the Elbow-high of Kuyavia in Krzywin. The young prince Henry had an important part in this meeting: W?adys?aw I designated him his heir over the Duchy of Pozna? in case he died without male issue; in addition, the Duke of Kuyavia was also forced to secure the succession of Henry III's descendants over all the Duchy of G?ogów. However, this agreement was dismissed when W?adys?aw I began to have sons, and in this way, the chances of inheritance of Henry IV over Pozna? were small.
"Henry III died on 9 December 1309 and Henry IV succeeded him over all his lands except G?ogów, which was taken by his mother Matilda as her dower. Although he was seventeen years old, an age considered enough to rule alone according to the Piast dynasty customs, for unknown reasons, he remained, with his immediate younger brother Konrad, under the regency of their mother until 1312.
"In 1312 Henry IV made the first division of the Duchy: the eastern part, consisting of the towns of Ole?nica, Kluczbork, Kalisz and Gniezno was given to his younger brothers Konrad and Boles?aw. Henry IV and his youngest brothers Jan and Przemko II retained ?cinawa, ?aga? and Greater Poland.
"The situation of the Dukes of G?ogów was difficult from the beginning of their rule, mostly because of the revived pretensions of W?adys?aw I the Elbow-high over all Greater Poland and the inheritance of Henry IV Probus. For this reason, they decided to establish good relations with the Margraves of Brandenburg as a counterweight against their enemies; as a guarantee of these good relations, Henry IV married the daughter of the Margrave Herman, Matilda, in 1310. In the marriage contract the towns of Krosno Odrza?skie and ?aga? were also pledged to the Margraviate, remaining in the hands of Brandenburg until 1319, when they came back to Henry III's sons. Thanks to this alliance with the House of Ascania Henry IV, along with younger brothers Konrad and Boles?aw renounced in Berlin on 3 March 1310 their claims over Gda?sk Pomerania to the Margraves Waldemar of Brandenburg-Stendal and John V of Brandenburg-Salzwedel, who soon sold them for a large sum of money to the Teutonic Knights.
"In Greater Poland, the dissatisfaction against the government of Henry III's sons erupted in a revolt, which occurred in 1310. Henry IV suffered an unexpected defeat at the hands of insurgents in Klecki, but he managed to maintain his rule. The situation worsened two years later, when the Dukes of G?ogów were excommunicated by the Archbishop of Gniezno, Jakub ?winka and the Bishop of Pozna?, Andrzej Zaremba. However, W?adys?aw I the Elbow-high was only involved directly in the conflict in 1313, and could successfully take control over almost all Greater Poland one year later. Henry IV and his brothers only retained a fraction of the Greater Poland lands near the Obra River, which was ultimately lost in 1332 (with the exception of Wschowa, which was lost by Henry V of Iron). The sons of Henry III, after several attempts in the diplomatic sphere, and even with military invasions, tried to recover Greater Poland without success. To this end, they were involved in a series of unfavorable treaties with the Margraves of Brandenburg, hoping for their military support. Fortunately them, all these agreements were annulled after the extinction of the House of Ascania in its Brandenburg branch in 1320.
"Also, the alliance with the Dukes of Legnica proved to be totally inadequate. The war of 1312–1317 was finally ended with the settlement of 8 January 1317, by which the Dukes of G?ogów were forced to cede the territory between the Oder River and Wo?ów, with Uraz and Lubi??.
"After the death of their mother Matilda in 1318, G?ogów was inherited by Henry IV and his brother Przemko II. Three years later, in 1321, the final territorial division was made between them: Przemko II received G?ogów as sole ruler, Henry IV obtained ?aga? and Jan obtained ?cinawa and Lubin. The other brothers, Konrad and Boles?aw, retained Ole?nica and Namys?ów.
"In 1322 the sons of Henry III joined the coalition of the Silesian Dukes (Bernard II of ?widnica, Henry VI the Good, Boles?aw III the Generous), whose head was W?adys?aw I the Elbow-high, now King of Poland. This action weakened even more the power of the Dukes of G?ogów, who at the end also lost Namys?ów.
"One year later, in order to avoid the intervention of Emperor Louis IV, Henry IV put his Duchy under the protection of the Holy See. On 29 July 1326 Henry IV concluded a treaty with his brothers Jan of ?cinawa and Przemko II of G?ogów, according to which if one of them died without male issue, the other two inherited his land. It seems that it was an attempt to restore the unity of the Duchy of G?ogów.
"After 1327 the political situation in Silesia was to change greatly. John of Luxemburg, King of Bohemia, began his direct interference over Upper Silesia. In 1329 he forced Henry IV, Boles?aw III the Generous, Jan of ?cinawa and Konrad I of Ole?nica to become his vassals. From the sons of Henry III, only Przemko II of G?ogów refused to accept the overlordship of the Bohemian King. With the support of King John, Henry IV tried unsuccessfully to claim the succession of the House of Ascania over Brandenburg.
"In 1331 Przemko II of G?ogów died without issue, poisoned by one of his vassals. According to the agreement previously concluded, his Duchy was divided between Henry IV and Jan of ?cinawa. Przemko II's widow only retained the main city of G?ogów and Bytom Odrza?ski. King John of Bohemia, however, had other plans; shortly after, he invaded the Duchy, depriving the widow and brothers of their inheritance. In order to validate this action, the King purchased from Jan of ?cinawa his rights over the half of G?ogów for 2,000 fines. King John's conduct infringed the rights of Przemko II's widow and Henry IV, who never could retake G?ogów.
"In order to prevent Jan from selling his Duchy of ?cinawa to Bohemia, on 25 July 1334 Henry IV and Konrad I entered into an arrangement with him, under which Jan was forbidden to sell any part of ?cinawa without the consent of his brothers. Finally, years later the brothers bought Jan his Duchy, which was returned to him only during his life. On 30 April 1341 Henry IV received from his brother Jan the town of Wschowa.
"Henry IV died on 22 January 1342 in ?agan, and was buried in the local Augustinian church.
Marriage and issue
"By 5 January 1310, Henry IV married Matilda (b. ca. 1296 – d. ca. 31 March 1329), daughter of Herman, Margrave of Brandenburg-Salzwedel. They had four children:
1. Hedwig (b. ca. 1316 – d. 28 May? 1348), Abbess of Trebnitz.
2. Henry V of Iron (b. ca. 1319 – d. aft. 8 April 1369).
3. Salome (b. aft. 1320 – d. aft. 12 June 1359), married by 1335 to Henry II Reuss, Vogt of Plauen.
4. Agnes (b. ca. 1321 – d. 7 July 1362), married by 1332 to Duke Leszek of Racibórz and secondly by 1341 with Duke Louis I of Brzeg.

; Per Genealogics:
"Henryk II-IV 'the Faithful', Duke Zaganski, was born between 1291 and 1293, the eldest son of Henryk I-III von Schlesien, duke Glogowski, and Mathilde von Braunschweig. His epithet 'the Faithful' was given to him in the 14th century chronicles. Henryk I-III involved his eldest son in political affairs from his early years. In 1296 he took the four-years-old Henryk with him to peace negotiations with Wladislaw I Lokietek, duke of Kuyavia, in Krzywin. The young Henryk had an important role at this meeting: Wladislaw designated him his heir over the duchy of Poznan in the event that he died without male issue; Wladislaw was also forced to secure the succession of Henryk I-III's descendants over all the duchy of Glogów. However he stepped away from this agreement when he began to have sons, and the chances of Henryk II-IV inheriting Poznan were in reality small.
"Henryk I-III died on 9 December 1309 and Henryk II-IV succeeded him over all his lands except Glogów, which was taken by his mother as her widow's seat. Although he was seventeen years old, an age sufficient to rule alone according to the Piast dynasty customs, for unknown reasons he remained with his next youngest brother Konrad under the regency of their mother until 1312. In that year he made the first division of the duchy; the eastern part, consisting of the towns of Olesnica, Kluczbork, Kalisz and Gniezno, was given to his younger brothers Konrad and Boleslaw. Henryk and his youngest brothers Jan and Przemko (Primko) retained Scinawa, Zagan and Greater Poland.
"The situation of the dukes of Glogów was difficult from the beginning of their rule, mainly because of the revived claims of Wladislaw I Lokietek to all of Greater Poland and the inheritance left by Henryk IV 'Probus', Herzog von Schlesien zu Breslau. For this reason, they decided to establish good relations with the margraves of Brandenburg as a counterweight against their enemies; as a guarantee of these good relations, in 1310 Henryk married Mechtild von Brandenburg, the daughter of Hermann, Markgraf von Brandenburg, and Anna of Austria. In the marriage contract the towns of Krosno Odrzanskie and Zagan were also pledged to the margraviate, remaining in the hands of Brandenburg until 1319, when they came back to Henryk I-III's sons. Henryk II-IV and Mechtild had four children of whom Henryk III-V, Agnes and Salome would have progeny.
"Thanks to this alliance with the House of Ascania, in Berlin on 3 March 1310 Henryk II-IV and his younger brothers Konrad and Boleslaw renounced their claims to Gdansk and Pomerania to the margraves Waldemar of Brandenburg-Stendal and Johann V of Brandenburg-Salzwedel, who soon sold them for a large sum to the Teutonic knights.
"In Greater Poland, the dissatisfaction against the government of Henryk I-III's sons erupted into open revolt in 1310. Henryk II-IV suffered an unexpected defeat at the hands of insurgents in Klecki, though he managed to maintain his rule. The situation worsened two years later, when the dukes of Glogów were excommunicated by the archbishop of Gniezno, Jakub Swinka and the bishop of Poznan, Andrzej Zaremba. However, Wladislaw I Lokietek was only involved directly in the conflict in 1313, and was able to take control over almost all Greater Poland one year later. Henryk II-IV and his brothers only retained a fraction of the Greater Poland lands near the Obra River, and these were ultimately lost in 1332 (with the exception of Wschowa, which was lost by Henryk II-IV's son Henryk III-V). The sons of Henryk I-III attempted both by diplomacy and military action to recover Greater Poland, but without success. To this end, they were involved in a series of unfavourable treaties with the margraves of Brandenburg, hoping for their military support. Fortunately for them, all of these agreements were nullified after the extinction of the House of Ascania in its Brandenburg line in 1320.
"The alliance with the dukes of Legnica also proved to be totally inadequate. The war of 1312-1317 was finally ended with the settlement of 8 January 1317, by which the dukes of Glogów were forced to cede the territory between the Oder River and Wolów, with Uraz and Lubiaz.
"After the death of their mother Mathilde in 1318, Glogów was inherited by Henryk and his brother Przemko. Three years later, in 1321, the final territorial division was made between them: Przemko received Glogów as sole ruler, Henryk obtained Zagan and Jan obtained Scinawa and Lubiaz.
"In 1322 the sons of Henryk I-III joined the coalition of Silesian dukes (Bernhard I, duke of Swidnica (Schweidnitz), Henryk VI von Schlesien, duke of Breslau, and Boleslaw III, duke of Breslau, Liegnitz and Brieg), led by Wladislaw I Lokietek, now king of Poland. This action further weakened the authority of the dukes of Glogów, who in the end also lost Namyslów.
"One year later, in order to avoid intervention by Emperor Ludwig IV 'der Bayer', Henryk put his duchy under the protection of the Holy See. On 29 July 1326 Henryk concluded a treaty with his brothers Jan of Scinawa and Przemko of Glogów, according to which, if one of them died without male issue, the other two inherited his land. This seems to have been an attempt to restore the unity of the duchy of Glogów.
"After 1327 the political situation in Silesia was to change greatly. Johann 'the Blind' of Luxembourg, king of Bohemia, began his direct interference in Upper Silesia. In 1329 he forced the brothers Henryk II-IV, Boleslaw III, Jan of Scinawa and Konrad I of Olesnica to become his vassals. From the sons of Henryk I-III, only Przemko of Glogów refused to accept the overlordship of the Bohemian king. With the support of King Johann, Henryk II-IV tried unsuccessfully to claim the succession to the House of Ascania from Brandenburg.
"In 1331 Przemko, duke of Glogów, died without issue, poisoned by one of his vassals. According to the agreement previously concluded, his duchy was divided between Henryk and Jan of Scinawa. Przemko's widow Konstanze von Schweinitz only retained the main city of Glogów and Bytom Odrzanski. King Johann of Bohemia, however, had other plans; he invaded the duchy, depriving the widow and brothers of their inheritance. In order to validate this action, the king purchased from Jan of Scinawa his rights over half of Glogów for 2,000 fines. King Johann's conduct infringed the rights of Przemko's widow and Henryk II-IV, who were never able to retake Glogów.
"In order to prevent Jan from selling his duchy of Scinawa to Bohemia, on 25 July 1334 Henryk and Konrad entered into an arrangement with him under which Jan was forbidden to sell any part of Scinawa without the consent of his brothers. Finally, years later the brothers purchased his duchy from Jan, and it was returned to him only for his lifetime. On 30 April 1341 Henryk received the town of Wschowa from Jan.

Her parentage is suggested by the charter dated 1296 under which "Graf Albrecht von Hals" confirmed a donation to Fürstencelle by "Graf Rapot von Ortenberch, mein Schwager" by charter dated 1296[418]. According to secondary sources, the wife of Albert Graf von Hals at that time was the sister of Friedrich [IV] Graf von Truhendingen. Consistency with this charter requires a loose interpretation of the German "Schwager" (brother-in-law), but it is assumed that other primary sources (not yet identified) confirm the relationship.

"Marie de Châtillon de Blois was born about 1323, the daughter of Guy I de Châtillon, comte de Blois et Chartres, and Marguerite de Valois. In 1334 she married Raoul 'le Vaillant', duc de Lorraine, son of Frédéric IV, duc de Lorraine, and Elisabeth of Austria. Of their eight children only their son Jean would have progeny.
"At the death of her husband in 1346 at the Battle of Crécy, Marie became regent of the duchy until 1353 in conjunction with Eberhard II 'der Greiner', Graf von Württemberg, as specified in her late husband's will.
"In 1347 Marie came into conflict with the bishop of Metz, Adhémar Monteil, over the fortress of Château-Salins. The conflict lasted ten years, though it was interspersed with truces.
"Marie had good neighbourly relations with Yolande of Flanders, countess of Bar and regent for her elder underage son Eduard, and she signed two treaties of peace with Yolande, in 1347 and on 8 November 1348. However the peace was broken in 1350, and Marie, together with Johann II, Graf von Salm, and Walram II, Graf von Zweibrücken, entered the county of Bar and ravaged it. In retaliation, Yolande and the bishop of Metz ravaged the surrounds of Nancy. The mediation of Pope Clement VI and intervention of King Jean II of France brought peace in 1352.
"In late 1352 Marie married Friedrich VII, Graf von Leiningen, son of Friedrich VI, Graf von Leiningen, and Jutta von Isenburg-Limburg. The marriage did not result in progeny. In December 1353 the joint regency officially ended when her son Jean, though only 7, did homage for the duchy of Lorraine to Emperor Karl IV, who made him lieutenant-general of the empire in the Moselle county.
"Some sources give Marie's year of death as 1363, others as after 1379."6

Raoul I «Le Vaillant» (?) duc de Lorraine was also known as Rudolf (?) Duc de Lorraine.6

; Per Genealogics:
"Raoul 'le Vaillant', duke of Lorraine, was born in Pacques in 1318, the son of Frédéric IV, duke of Lorraine, and Elisabeth of Austria. Called 'le Vaillant' (the Valiant), he was duke of Lorraine from 1329 to his death. Though he was only nine when his father died, succeeding to the duchy under the regency of his mother (until 1334), he was a warrior prince, taking part in four separate wars in Lorraine, France, Brittany, and Iberia.
"At Pont-à-Mousson in 1329 Raoul married Eleonore de Bar, daughter of Edouard I, comte de Bar, and Marie de Bourgogne. Eleonore died in 1332 without progeny. In 1334 he married Marie de Châtillon de Blois, daughter of Guy I de Châtillon, comte de Blois, and Marguerite de Valois, the sister of Philippe VI, king of France. Of their eight children only their son Jean would have progeny.
"In 1337 Henri IV, comte de Bar, seigneur de Cassel, brother of Raoul's first wife, refused to do homage for a few seigniories he held of the duke. Raoul was forced to devastate Pont-à-Mousson and its environs. In a series of reprisals, Henri ravaged the west of Lorraine and Raoul attacked the Barrois. The war was ended only through the intervention of Philippe VI of France. By that time the ties of Lorraine to France had become very strong. Raoul assisted Philippe with troops to lift Edward III of England's siege of Tournai in the opening phase of the Hundred Years' War.
"During a brief Anglo-French peace, Raoul journeyed to the Iberian Peninsula to aid Alfonso XI, king of Castile and León, in the _Reconquista._ He battled the Moors of Granada and fought with distinction in the Battle of Gibraltar on 3 November 1340.
"On his return to France, he came to the aid of his French brother-in-law, Charles de Châtillon de Blois, titular duc de Bretagne, in the War of the Breton Succession. He returned to King Philippe's side at the Battle of Crécy and was killed there on 25 August 1346."9 He was Duc de Lorraine between 1328 and 1346.1,2
