Kildare, and Castlecomber, co. Kilkenny, Ireland, and, in right of his 2nd wife, of Kelvedon, Essex, son and heir, born at Todham (in Easebourne), Sussex 14 Nov. 1301. He married (1st) before 1326 ISABEL _____, perhaps daughter of Henry de Tregoz, Knt., of Goring, Sussex. They had two sons, Edward and John, and three daughters, Joan (wife of John de Lisle), Elizabeth (wife of Henry Hussey), and Margaret. In 1329 he had livery of the lands held in dower by Joan, widow of his grandfather, John de Bohun. In 1331 he granted land at Shoddesden (in Kimpton), Hampshire to Easebourne Priory, Sussex. In 1332 he made a considerable grant of land in Sturminster Marshal, Dorset to Easebourne Priory, Sussex. The same year he transferred his share of the manor of Luton, Bedfordshire to his cousin, Hugh de Mortimer. In 1332–1333 the manor of Rustington, Sussex was settled on him and his wife, Isabel, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to his right heirs. In 1335–1336 the manors of Midhurst, Ford, Climping, and Newtimber, Sussex, together with one carucate of land in Easebourne and Woolavington, Sussex, were settled on him and his wife, Isabel, for life, with remainder to John’s son, Edward, and the heirs male of his body, with successive remainders to the heirs male of the body of the said John, to Joan, Elizabeth, and Margaret, sisters of Edward, and the heirs male of their bodies, or to the right heirs of John. He married (2nd) before 6 Nov. 1342 CECILY FILOLL (or FILIOL, FILLIOLL), daughter of John Filoll, Knt., of Kelvedon, Little Oakley, and Little Baddow, Essex, by his 2nd wife, Margery. She was born about 1324 (aged 22 in 1346). They had one son, John, Knt. He accompanied the King in July 1346 in his French campaign, he being in the retinue of the Earl of Arundel. In 1347 he and his wife, Cecily, had license to settle the manor of Kelvedon, Essex on themselves in tail, with remainder, if they die without issue, to Cecily, then Ralph Filiol, to William son of John de Sutton, Knt., in tail male, to Richard, brother of the said William, in tail male, and to John brother of the said Richard, in fee. In 1354 he had license to settle the manors of Ballymadden, Berton, and Glassealy, co. Kildare, and the manor and advowson of the church of Castlecomber, co. Kilkenny, Ireland, held in chief, on himself and Cecily his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to his right heirs. He was summoned to three Councils from 10 October 1359 by writs directed Johanni de Bohun de Midhurst. SIR JOHN DE BOHUN died 5 Dec. 1367.
