“Edmund Fitzalan was born about 1329, son of Richard Fitzalan, 9th Earl of Arundel, and Isabel le Despenser. Edmund's father wanted to get rid of the woman to whom he had been married as a child, and who, since her father's attainder and execution, had ceased to be of any importance. As well, wanting to marry the woman with whom he was then living in adultery, he requested annulment from the Pope, who not only obliged but bastardised their son, Edmund. As a result it was his younger half-brother who became the next Earl of Arundel.
“Edmund Fitzalan before 1347 married Sibyl de Montagu, daughter of William de Montagu, 1st Earl of Salisbury, and Catherine de Grandison. Edmund and Sibyl were the parents of three daughters. Edmund died before 12 February 1382.”.8
