ii. Francis Madison was born 18 Jun 1753, and died 5 Apr 1800. He married Susanna Bell 29 Oct 1772 in Orange Co. VA, daughter of William Bell and Elizabeth Bledsoe.

bearing date 29th July 1758 give and bequeath to me his riding
chair and two horses .. (also mentions the other bequests) •. and by
virtue of said will did on 16th day July last past make choice of the
five Negroes •• I bequeath unto my son WILLIAM MOORE when he attains
age of Twenty one and to my grandson JAMES MADDISON junr. when he attains
Eighteen years of age to be equally divided between them..if

Whereas my late husband JOHN MOORE did by his last will and testament
bearing date 29th July 1758 give and bequeath to me his riding
chair and two horses .. (also mentions the other bequests) •. and by
virtue of said will did on 16th day July last past make choice of the
five Negroes •• I bequeath unto my son WILLIAM MOORE when he attains
age of Twenty one and to my grandson JAMES MADDISON junr. when he attains
Eighteen years of age to be equally divided between them..if

On 15 December 1760, Frances Beale, widow, deeded 1000 acres in Orange County, VA, to James Madison and Richard Beale, Gentlemen, in trust, land whereon the grantor, Frances Beale, widow, now lives and being the same which was given to her by her father, Ambrose Madison by his last Will and Testament dated 31 July 1732 and remaining of record in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. The trust gives the beneficial use of the land to Frances Beale, widow, during her lifetime and on her death to Taverner Beale, eldest son and heir apparent to the said Frances Beale. [Orange County, VA, Deed Book 13, page 183]
(a) Note: Frances Beale was about to remarried to Jacob Hite and she created the trust to prevent the lands from coming under the control of Jacob Hite and to protect the inheritance of her children eldest son by her first husband.

THIS INDENTURE TRIPARTITE made the 28th of November 1777 Between BENJAMIN GRYMES of County of ORANGE and SALLEY his Wife of the first part and CHARLES GRYMES of the TOWN and COUNTY of YORK of the second part and JAMES MADISON of County of Orange of the third part. Whereas the Honourable PHILIP GRYMES Esquire being at the time of his death seized of Twelve thousand acres of land in the County of Culpeper formerly Orange County by his Last Will and Testament did devise the same to his two Sons the said Charles and Benjamin to be equally divided as by said Will proved in the County Court of MIDDLESEX and Whereas Benjamin Grymes hath for consideration hereafter mentioned sold to said James Madison Two thousand three hundred and one acres of land bounded being part of the said Twelve thousand acres to which sale the said Charles Grymes hath consented NOW THIS INDENTURE WIT-NESSETH that the said Benjamin Grymes and Salley his Wife for the sum of One Thousand five hundred and Forty seven pounds Fourteen shillings current money to him and said Charles Grymes for sum Five shillings current money to him have granted unto the said James Madison his heirs forever the said Two thousand three hundred and one acres of land situate in County of Culpeper bounded Begining at a white oak on the Rappidan River a little above JACKS FORD and Corner to JAMES WALKER Gent. runing thence North to a poplar on MEDLEYS ROAD thence North to a white oak on the North side of the OAKEY RIDGE Corner to ROBERT ALCOCK thence South to four bushes on FRYS ROAD another Corner to the said Alcock thence along the said Road near the head of a valley and Corner to said Alcock thence South to a hikory on the Rappidan River at the GERMAN FORD thence up the Meanders of the said River to the begining .

He does not recollect to have had any dealings with that House. Mr. Grinnan as agent for the creditors about three years ago applied to Mr. Madison. He desired to be furnished with an account specifying the different items. This has never been furnished. If he can be satisfied of its justice he will immediately pay it.4

On 15 December 1760, Frances Beale, widow, deeded 1000 acres in Orange County, VA, to James Madison and Richard Beale, Gentlemen, in trust, land whereon the grantor, Frances Beale, widow, now lives and being the same which was given to her by her father, Ambrose Madison by his last Will and Testament dated 31 July 1732 and remaining of record in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. The trust gives the beneficial use of the land to Frances Beale, widow, during her lifetime and on her death to Taverner Beale, eldest son and heir apparent to the said Frances Beale. [Orange County, VA, Deed Book 13, page 183]
(a) Note: Frances Beale was about to remarried to Jacob Hite and she created the trust to prevent the lands from coming under the control of Jacob Hite and to protect the inheritance of her children eldest son by her first husband.

West Virginia Highway Historical Marker number MC-103's inscription reads: "In this cemetery lie buried members of the Stonewall Jackson family: his father Jonathan, a sister Elizabeth, his great grandparents John Jackson and wife Elizabeth Cummings. Buried here also are Mrs. Mary Payne Jackson and Mrs. Mary Coles Payne, sister and mother of Dorothy (Dolly) Madison, wife of President James Madison. Some Civil War soldiers lie buried in this place; called Jackson Park." Historic Jackson Cemetery is located on WV 20 (East Pike Street), near junction with US 50, Clarksburg.
