     ; WILLIAM, 2nd Earl of Caithness, who had a charter of the lands of the Earldom on his f's resignation, 7 Dec 1476. He m Mary, dau of Sir William Keith, of Inverugie, and had issue. The Earl fell at Flodden, 9 Sept 1513, and was s by his elder son.2 He was 2nd Earl of Caithness.2

; GEORGE, 4th Earl of Caithness, Hereditary Justiciar of Caithness who resigned the Earldom in favour of his s and heir John, reserving the life rent in 1545. He was Chancellor of the Jury on the trial of James, Earl of Bothwell, for the murder of Darnley, 12 April 1567. He m Elizabeth, dau of William Graham, 2nd Earl of Montrose (see MONTROSE, D), [she] d before 4 April 1576 (will proved). The Earl d 9 Sept 1582, and was s by his grandson.2

     John Sinclair Master of Caithness was born in 1543.3,1 He married Lady Jane Hepburn Mistress of Bothwell, daughter of Patrick Hepburn 3rd Earl of Bothwell and Agnes Sinclair, between 13 January 1566 and 1567; her 2nd husband, had issue.1,4,5,6 John Sinclair Master of Caithness and Lady Jane Hepburn Mistress of Bothwell were divorced on 17 July 1575.2
John Sinclair Master of Caithness died in September 1575.1
     ; per Weis (MSC, p. 56): "...imprisoned by his father at Girnigo Castle under the most miserable conditions, he d.v.p. Sept. 1575 of 'famine and vermin.1' "

; JOHN, Master of Caithness, who, on his f's resignation, had a charter of the Earldom, 2 Oct 1545, to him and his heirs male and assigns, whom failing to his f and his heirs male whomsoever.      ; EWEN (or JOHN) MACDOUGALL, 5th of Lorn, recommended to the favour of his s Edward, Prince of Wales, by EDWARD I 14 Sept 1306, restored to the MacDougall estates with the exception of a portion which the family of his grand-uncle Duncan was allowed to retain 1344; m Joan, dau of Sir Thomas Isaac, by Princess Matilda, dau of ROBERT I (see BURKE's PEERAGE & BARONETAGE 1956 edn, KINGS OF SCOTLAND), and had issue, two daus. and co-heiresses. Ewen was s as Ch of the MacDougalls by his cousin (s of Allan, 7th of Dunollie and grandson of Duncan, 6th of Dunollie-see above).2

; ALEXANDER, 2nd Earl of Crawford, Ld Lindsay, knighted at the Coronation of KING JAMES, 21 May 1424, was a hostage for KING JAMES, and imprisoned in the Tower of London 1424. He obtained a new entail of his comitatus 1421, an early example of a royal charter containing a name and arms clause.
