For those who may be interested, the current issue (Spring 2010) of
"The Genealogist" (TG) has a useful article by Andrew B. W. MacEwen
titled “The Boyd Tomb at Kilmarnock” which makes some substantial
revisions to the traditional pedigree of the Boyd family as shown in
SP and BP inter alia. In summary, MacEwen argues that the traditional
pedigrees omit one generation and split another generation into two.

The traditional pedigree for the early generations of the Boyd family
goes as follows:

perhaps a dau. of Robert, Duke of Albany (son of King Robert II)

I won’t go into the details of MacEwen’s argument (which is will
supported), except to indicate that his key point is that early
chroniclers misread the death date on the tomb of Sir Thomas Boyd (d.
1439) and later pedigree compilers, seeing Thomas Boyds with different
death dates, assumed that there were two men rather than one. An
interesting article….⁶

; ROBERT BOYD, 1st LORD BOYD (S), so cr between 1451 and 18 July 1454; ktd c 1451; a Regent for the infant JAMES III 1460; took custody of JAMES III 1466 and got an Act of Parl passed making himself sole Govr of Scotland, also Gt Chamberlain 1467; attainted (and his peerage forfeited) 1469 while away from court negotiating the transfer of Orkney to Scotland as a dowry for the KING OF NORWAY's dau, whose marriage with JAMES III he had arranged; m Janet or Mariota (d after 25 June 1472, seemingly early 1473), dau of Sir Robert Maxwell of Calderwood (see FARNHAM, B), and d by Oct 1482 in exile allegedly at Alnwick, Northumberland.² He was 1st LORD BOYD (S), so cr between 1451 and 18 July 1454; ktd c 1451 circa 1451.²

     Sir David Fleming married Elizabeth Drummond, daughter of John Drummond 1st Lord Drummond and Lady Elizabeth Lindsay.¹

Sir David Fleming died before 1488.¹

     Margaret/Mary Hepburn married Archibald Douglas 6th Earl of Angus, son of George Douglas Master of Angus and Elizabeth Drummond, in 1509 at contract 26 June 1509.¹

      ; The Drummonds, according to unvarying tradition, are of Hungarian origin, Maurice, the first of the family, who settled in Scotland, having come from that country with Edgar Atheling and Margaret his sis, afterwards wife of MALCOLM III.¹

; MALCOLM BEG DRUMMOND, made in the year 1220 a gift of the Barony of Cardross to the parsonage of Inchmahome, in the island in the Lake of Menteith, which was made a priory 1288, and was subsequently the burial-place of the Drummonds. Malcolm Beg Drummond was Seneschal of Lennox between 1225-50, and m the dau of Malcolm, Earl of Lennox, and sis of Malcolm, Earl of Lennox, who resigned his Earldom to the King.¹

; György, who, according to Europaeische Stammtafeln, went to Scotland in 1055 and became ancestor of the Drummond family. E.S.cites a 1959 work published in Warsaw as the source for this. I know that it has long been asserted that the Drummond family was founded by a Hungarian who returned to Britain with Edward Atheling, so this may be true.² Malcom Beg Drummond was living in 1220.¹

The Countess made, 9 Dec 1404, a grant in life-rent in the Earldom (confirmed by THE KING 1405), to her second husband, thereafter 12th Earl of Mar, but reserved the heirship to her own lawful heirs. She dsp 1408.² She was Countess of Mar (qv) in her own right.¹

     Sir John Drummond of Cargill and Stobhall married Elizabeth Sinclair, daughter of Henry Sinclair Jarl of Orkney, Lord of Roslin, 1st Earl of Orkney and Jean Halyburton of Dirleton, before 13 May 1396.¹
