His parentage is confirmed by the Chronicon Turonense which records the death "in festo…Sancti Benedictis abbatis" in 1226 of "Hamericus vicecomes Toarcensis", his burial "in abbatia…Chambon prope Toarcium" and the succession of "Hugo frater eius in regimine Toarcii"[1243]. Co-seigneur d'Alès . He took part in the First Crusade. Comte de Melgueil, de iure uxoris. "Bernardus Pileti comes Melgoriensis" donated property "in manso de Caprarecia" to Aniane, with the consent of "comitisse uxoris mee Beatricis", by charter dated 1158[523].
"m (before Mar 1146) as her second husband, BEATRIX de Melgueil, widow of BERENGER RAYMOND Comte de Provence, daughter of BERNARD IV Comte de Melgueil ([1124]-1190 or after). The marriage contract between Berenger Raymond Comte de Provence and “Beatrix filia Guillelmæ” is dated 1135[524]. Her second marriage is confirmed by the charter dated Mar [1145/46] under which "Beatrix Melgoriensis comitissa filia Guillelme et Bernardi, felicis memorie comitis Mergoriensis" and "Bernardus Peleti comes maritus hujus Beatricis" recognised obligations to "Guillelmo Montispessulani filio Ermessendis" previously agreed by "Bernardus comes, pater mei Beatricis"[525]. "Bernardus Pileti comes Melgoriensis" donated property "in manso de Caprarecia" to Aniane, with the consent of "comitisse uxoris mee Beatricis", by charter dated 1158[526]. "Beatrix comitissa Melgorii" divided the county of Melgueil between "filie mee Ermessende" and "Dulcie neptis mee, filie quondam filii mei Raimundi comitis Provincie" by contract dated 1 Apr 1172, which names "Petro Bermundo de Salvis genero meo" and records the betrothal between Dulcie and "Raimundo, duci Narbone, comiti Tolose, marchioni Provincie…filio"[527]. This was superseded by a second donation: "Beatrix comitissa Melgorii" donated "totum comitatum Melgorii" to "Raymundo duci Narbonæ comiti Tolosæ, marchioni Provinciæ", and granted "filiam meam Hermessindam" in marriage to "filio tuo Raymundo" with the county as dowry with a reservation for "filius eius quem ex Petro Bermundo" and "Dulcia neptis mea, filia quondam fili mei Raymundi comitis Provinciæ", by charter dated 12 Dec 1172, witnessed by "Bermundi de Salve, Bermundi de Vidinobrio, Eleziarii de Usecia, Raymundi eius fratris..."[528]. On the same day, Ermessende gave her inheritance to her husband. Ermessende, by her testament dated Sep 1176, granted the county to her husband, and bequeathed an annual income to her mother[529]. Added at the end of the charter dated 12 Dec 1172, is a certification dated 3 Nov 1176 which confirms that the provisions of the earlier instrument had been completed, witnessed by "Elesyario de Usecia, R. fratre eius, Bermundo de Vidinobrio…B.      NN de Beaumont was born in 1102.1 She and Amauri III de Montfort seigneur de Montfort-l'Amaury, comte d'Évreux were engaged circa 1103.1,2
     ; Per Med Lands:
"AMAURY [III] de Montfort, son of SIMON [I] Seigneur de Montfort-l'Amaury & his third wife Agnès d'Evreux (-[18/19] Apr [1137/38], bur Abbaye de Haute-Bruyère). His parentage is recorded by Orderic Vitalis[705]. He succeeded his brother after [1104] as Seigneur de Montfort-l'Amaury. Orderic Vitalis records that, after the death of his maternal uncle Guillaume "Crespin" Comte d'Evreux, Amaury claimed the succession but Henry I King of England "took the county of Evreux into his own hands" because he "had forfeited the king's favour by his effrontery"[706]. He led a major rebellion and captured the town of Evreux[707]. King Henry besieged the castle but the two parties were reconciled by King Henry's nephew Thibaut Comte de Blois[708], when Amaury succeeded as Comte d'Evreux. The necrology of Saint-Père-en-Vallée records the death "19 Apr" of "Amauricus princeps de Monteforti"[709]. The necrology of Haute-Bruyère lists members of the Montfort family who are buried in the abbey, starting with "conte Amaury…qui premier fonda l'eglise, dou fil le conte Simon le Chauf qui gist a Evreux"[710].
"Betrothed (1103) to --- de Meulan, daughter of ROBERT de Beaumont-le-Roger Comte de Meulan, Earl of Leicester & his wife Elisabeth de Vermandois [Capet]. Daughter of Robert, she was betrothed by her father to Amaury nephew of Guillaume Comte d'Evreux when only one year old but "various circumstances arose which prevented the marriage" according to Orderic Vitalis[711]. The identity of the daughter is unknown, but she may have been Isabelle (see below). She is named "Aline" in Europäische Stammtafeln[712], but the source for this is not known. If this is correct, she was probably the same person as Robert's daughter Adeline (see below).
"m firstly ([1115], divorced 1118) RICHILDIS de Hainaut, daughter of BAUDOUIN II Comte de Hainaut & his wife Ida de Louvain ([1095]-after 1118). Orderic Vitalis names "Richenda" as wife of Amaury de Montfort, but does not give her origin[713]. The Chronicon Hanoniense names "Richeldis" as daughter of "Balduino comitis Hanoniensis" and wife of "comiti Montisforti"[714].
"m secondly (before 1127) AGNES de Garlande, daughter of ANSEAU de Garlande Comte de Rochefort & his wife --- de Rochef ort-en-Yvelines (-after 1136). The Chronicon Mauriniacensi records that "Stephanus Cancellarius" arranged the marriage of "nepti sua" and "Amalrico de Monteforti", adding that he dowry was "honore de Rupe-forti" [Rochefort][715]. The primary source which confirms her name has not yet been identified. Du Chesne suggests that the widow of Amaury [III] de Montfort Comte d’Evreux married, as her second husband and his first wife, Robert de France Seigneur de Dreux[716]. He bases this on a charter dated to [1 Nov 1183/31 Mar 1184] in which Philippe II King of France confirmed the property of Notre-Dame de Colombs, including property "in loco Campus à la Drouë" donated by "Robertus comes de Drocis et de Montfort" and "domum de là Nouë" donated by "Simon de Drocis in sua ultima voluntate"[717]. Du Chesne’s argument is that Robert Comte de Dreux could only have been entitled to "le titre de comte de Montfort, don’t le roy le rehausse" from "un mariage fait avec la douairiere de la mesme comté". He also suggests that "Simon de Drocis", also named in the same charter, was the son of this marriage. There are three difficulties with Du Chesne’s argument. Firstly, Amaury [III] de Montfort was comte d’Evreux not "comte de Montfort", a title which does not appear ever to have been borne by members of his family. Secondly, the chronology is unfavourable for the widow of Amaury [III], who was probably born in [1110/15] at the latest, to have married Robert de Dreux whose birth is estimated to [1124/26]. Thirdly, it is unlikely that Agnes would have given the name Simon to a son born from this supposed second marriage, given that she already had a son of that name by her marriage to Amaury. In conclusion, the evidence of the [1183/84] charter alone is insufficient to corroborate this marriage."
