; Per Genealogics:
"The counts of Melgueil (or Mauguio) were originally lords of Maguelone until its destruction by Charles Martel in 737, then counts of Substancion (Castelnau-le-Lez today).
"In the 12th century Béatrix de Mauguion, comtesse de Melgueil, only child of Bernard IV, comte de Mauguion, and Guillemette de Montpellier, was heiress of the county of Melgueil. She ruled Melgueil jointly with her father from 1146 to 1170. She first married Berenguer Ramon I, comte de Provence, vicomte de Rodez de Gevaudan, son of Ramon Berenguer III 'el Grande', conde de Barcelona, Provence et Carcassonne, and Aldonza de Gevaudan. They had a son Raymond Berenguer V who would have progeny. Berenguer Ramon was killed by a cross-bow bolt in 1144 during a naval engagement against a Genoese galley. In 1145 Béatrix married Bernard II Pelet, seigneur d'Alais, son of Bermond Pelet, of the family of the viscounts of Narbonne. They had a son Bertrand I and a daughter Ermesinde who would both have progeny. Béatrix disinherited Bertrand in favour of Ermesinde and her second husband Raymond VII, comte de Toulouse, leading to a long family quarrel. She outlived her daughter, who died in 1176, by at least 14 years.
"After Ermesinde's death her husband Raymond VII, comte de Toulouse, continued to rule Melgueil. However the family quarrel over the inheritance continued. Eventually Pope Innocent III intervened. He took the county of Melgueil, denying it to both factions, and pledged it to the bishop of Maguelone on the pretext that Pierre I de Melgueil had pledged his properties to the papacy in 1085. Thereafter the bishops of Maguelone, then of Montpellier, would be comtes de Melgueil until the French Revolution. Pope Urban declared Melgueil 'secondo loco post Roman', the second place of Christendom after Rome; many popes would stay there. The country of Melgueil, and thus Montpellier, placed under the suzerainty of the Holy See, did not suffer from the Albigensian Crusade."5 Beatrix de Melgueil Cts de Melgueil was also known as Béatrix de Mauguion Comtesse de Melgueil.5

; Per Med Lands:
"BEATRIX de Melgueil ([1124]-1190 or after). Alphonse Comte de Toulouse and Guillaume [V] Seigneur de Montpellier agreed terms relating to the county of Melgueil by charter dated 1132, agreeing that they would agree on the marriage of “filia Bernardi Melgoriensis comitis” in six years time[502]. Berenger Raymond Comte de Provence and Guillaume [V] Seigneur de Montpellier agreed terms relating to the marriage of “Beatrix filia sororis tuæ Guillelmæ”, provided that, if Beatrix died under the age of 12, Berenger Raymond would marry “filiam tuam”[503]. She succeeded her father in 1132 as Ctss de Melgueil. Under a charter dated 1135 “Berengarius.Raimundi filius Dulciæ comes Melgoriensis et marchio Provinciæ et…Beatrix filia Guillelmæ” agreed to pay a debt owed by "Bernardus comes pater Beatricis" to "Guillelmo Montispessulani filio Ermessendis" relating to the county of Melgueil[504]. Her second marriage is confirmed by the charter dated Mar [1145/46] under which "Beatrix Melgoriensis comitissa filia Guillelme et Bernardi, felicis memorie comitis Mergoriensis" and "Bernardus Peleti comes maritus hujus Beatricis" recognised obligations to "Guillelmo Montispessulani filio Ermessendis" previously agreed by "Bernardus comes, pater mei Beatricis"[505]. "Bernardus Pileti comes Melgoriensis" donated property "in manso de Caprarecia" to Aniane, with the consent of "comitisse uxoris mee Beatricis", by charter dated 1158[506].

The Anales Toledanos record the birth 1 Mar 1106 of “El Rey D. Alfonso, fillo del Conde D. Raymondo è de Doña Urraca”[648]. He styled himself "imperator" for the first time 9 Dec 1117[652]. "Adefonsus imperator Hispanie…cum uxore mea Berengaria" donated "ecclesiam sancti Vincentii de Salamantica" to Cluny by charter dated 29 Oct 1143, confirmed by "Sancius imperatoris major filius…Rodericus Gomez comes, Poncius de Cabreria comes, Guterrus Fernandez, Rodericus Fernandez, Didacus Munioz majordomus imperatoris, Garsias Royz majorinus imperatoris in Burgus"[656]. He captured Almería (1147), Tortosa (1148), and Jaén (1157) from the Muslims, though they recaptured Almería before he died. “Adefonsus Imperator Hispaniæ...cum uxore mea Imperatrice Domina Rica et cum filiis meis Sancio et Ferrando Regibus” donated property to the bishop of Segovia by charter dated 28 Jan 1155[657]. Raymundi et Reginæ D. Orracæ”[660]. On his death, his lands were divided between his two sons.

m firstly (Saldaña Nov 1128) BERENGUELA de Barcelona, daughter of RAMÓN BERENGUER [III] “el Grande” Conde de Barcelona & his wife Dulce/Dolça [I] Ctss de Provence ([1116]-Palencia 15/31 Jan 1149, bur Santiago de Compostela, Cathedral Santiago el Mayor). The Chronica Adefonsi Imperatoris records the marriage of "Alfonso…king of León" and "the daughter of Ramón count of Barcelona…Berengaria" in 1128 at Saldaña[661]. The Gestis Comitum Barcinonensium record the marriage of "Raimundi-Berengarii comitis…filiam" and "Ildefonso Toletano Imperatori"[662]. The De Rebus Hispaniæ of Rodericus Ximenes names "Berengariam atque Richam" as the wives of "Aldefonsi Hispaniarum Regis"[666]. The primary source which confirms her parentage and her three marriages has not yet been identified. The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines names "Rikissam", daughter of "regi Russie nomine Musuch" & his wife "Rikissam [filiam ducis Vergescelai de Polonia]", as wife firstly of "imperatoris Castelle Alfunso" and subsequently of "comiti Aragonensi et post comiti Alberto de Everstein ultra Coliniam"[667], contradicting other sources in many aspects. She was known as RIQUILDA in Spain[668], or RICA. “Adefonsus Imperator Hispaniæ...cum uxore mea Imperatrice Domina Rica et cum filiis meis Sancio et Ferrando Regibus” donated property to the bishop of Segovia by charter dated 28 Jan 1155[669]. Mistress (1): ([1130/32]) GONTRODO Pérez, wife of GUTIERRE Sebastiániz, daughter of conde PEDRO Díaz de Valle & his wife María Ordóñez (-León 29 Jun 1186, Santa María de Vega near Oviedo). The Chronica Adefonsi Imperatoris records that King Alfonso VII "took a concubine…Guntroda, the daughter of Pedro Díaz and María Ordóñez…who belonged to the greatest family of the Asturians and the Tinians", dated to [1130/32] from the context[670]. “Gontrodo Petri...cum domina mea, et filia Urraca” donated property to the monastery of Santa María de Vega near Oviedo by charter dated 13 Oct 1153[671]. She became a nun at the monastery of Santa María de Vega near Oviedo[672]. Florez reproduces the epitaph in the same monastery which records the death in 1186 of “Guntrodo”[673].

Mistress (2): ([1139/48]) URRACA Fernández de Castro, widow of conde RODRIGO Martínez, daughter of FERNANDO García [de Castro] Señor de Hita y Uceda & his second wife Estefanía Armengol de Urgel ([1120]-after 1165).
