The Genealogiæ Scriptoris Fusniacensis names (in order) "Radulfum comitem Veromandie et Henricum de Chauni et Simonem episcopum Noviomensem" as the sons of "Hugonem Magnum [et] Adelaide comitissa Veromandensium"[339]. Orderic Vitalis records that in 1096 "Hugo Crispeii comes" placed "Radulfo et Henrico filiis suis" in charge of his land, married "Ysabel filiam suam" to "Rodberto de Mellento comiti", and left on pilgrimage taking "secum nobile agmen Francorum"[340]. Robert of Torigny records that "Rodulfus filius eius" succeeded in 1102 on the death of "Hugo Magnus"[341]. He succeeded his father in 1102 as Comte de Vermandois, and his mother in 1117. "Adela…Viromandorum comitissa, filius…meus Radulphus" renounced their claim to certain serfs in favour of the abbey of Compiègne Saint-Corneille, with the consent of "filiorum meorum Radulphi, Henrici, Symonis", by charter dated 1114[342]. He lost an eye at the siege of the château of Livry in early 1129. Louis VI King of France appointed him seneschal of France in Nov 1131. He allied himself with Queen Adélaïde, the Queen mother, in 1138 against her son King Louis VII and Suger, but was reconciled with the king in 1139. "Comes Rodulfus de Perrona filius Hugonis magni fratris Philippi regis Francorum" provided for masses at "monasterio de Crespeio, quod antiquitus in eodem Crespeii castro constructum fuerat" by charter dated to [1140][343]. His repudiation of his first wife triggered war with Champagne and excommunication by the Pope, although the divorce was finally accepted by the church in 1148. Robert of Torigny records the death in 1152 of "Radulfus de Perrona comes Viromandorum", specifying that he appointed "Galeranni comitis Mellenti nepotis sui" as guardian of his infant children[344]. The necrology of the Priory of Saint-Martin-des-Champs records the death "III Id Oct" of "Rodulfus comes"[345].
"m firstly ([1120], divorced 1142 on the grounds of consanguinity) ELEONORE de Blois, daughter of ETIENNE Comte de Blois & his wife Adela of England. Kerrebrouck names Eleonore, daughter of Comte Etienne, as the first wife of Raoul Comte de Vermandois[346] but the primary source on which this is based has not been identified. After her repudiation she found refuge with her brother Thibaut IV Comte de Champagne who declared war on her husband and appealed to Pope Innocent II who excommunicated him. Ctss Eléonore appeared in person before Pope Eugene III at Reims 21 Mar 1148, but the Pope confirmed the annulment of her marriage[347].
"m secondly (1142) AELIS [Petronille] d'Aquitaine, daughter of GUILLAUME X Duke of Aquitaine [GUILLAUME VIII Comte de Poitou] & his first wife Eléonore de Châtellerault ([1125]-after 24 Oct 1151, bur St Arnould in Crépy). The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines specifies that "Alienor Guilielmi filia comits Pictavorum et Aquitanie ducis" had two sisters one of whom married "Radulfus…comes Perone et Veromandie", although he does not name either of them[348]. The Historiæ Tornacenses record the wife of "Radulfem comitem" as "germanam Alienore regine Francorum" but also do not name her[349]. Robert of Torigny refers to the mother of the infant children of "Radulfus de Perrona comes Viromandorum" as "iuniore filia Willelmi ducis Aquitanorum" but he does not name her either[350]. The Chronique de Guillaume de Nangis names "Eléonore et Pétronille" as the two daughters of "Guillaume comte de Poitou et prince d'Aquitaine", recording in 1142 that Pétronille married "Raoul comte de Vermandois" after he repudiated his first wife[351]. "Helienordis...Francorum regina et Aquitanorum ducissa" confirmed the privileges of Notre-Dame de Saintes, at the request of "Agnetis abbatisse", with the consent of “Ludovici regis Francorum et ducis Aquitanorum collateralis nostri et Aelith sororis nostre”, by charter dated 1151[352].
"m thirdly (1152) as her third husband, LAURETTA de Flandre, widow firstly of IWAN Graaf van Aalst and secondly of HENDRIK II Duke of Limburg, daughter of THIERRY Count of Flanders & his first wife Swanhilde --- ([1120]-Abbaye de Voorst, near Brussels 1170). The Flandria Generosa names "Laurentiam" as the only daughter of "comitissa etiam Suanildis", specifying that her marriage with "dux de Lemburg" was terminated on grounds of consanguinity, that she subsequently married "Iwanus de Alst", and after the latter's death "Rodulfo comiti Peronensi" and "comiti de Namur", although this switches her first and second husbands[353]. She married fourthly (before 1159, divorced 1163) as his first wife, Henri "l’Aveugle" Comte de Namur et de Luxembourg.
"Comte Raoul [I] & his second wife had three children."

"RAOUL [I] "le Vaillant" de Vermandois, son of HUGUES [I] de France Comte de Vermandois [Capet] & his wife Adelais Ctss de Vermandois ([1094]-13 Oct 1152, bur Priory of Saint-Arnoul de Crépy).
"Comte Raoul [I] & his second wife had three children."

; Raoul repudiated his wife, Eleonore, in order to marry Petronille. With the complaints of several bishops, the Pope excommunicates both Petronille and Raoul I on the pretext of consanguinity, and a Council in Lagny would condemn the prelates who assisted Raoul. King Louis VII de France takes strong exception to this action, and has his brother Robert de Dreux invade Champagne. The Pope promisses to lift the excommunication, but in 1143, Innocent II, would recant his promise and Louis VII would burn the town of Vitry which would then be renamed to Vitry-le-Brule. When Innocent II died on 23 September 1143, His successor Celestin II would lift the interdict and validate the marriage of Raoul I and Petronille.25

"BERNARD GUILLAUME [IV] de Montpellier (-[1085]). 1058/1068.
"m as her first husband, ERMENGARDE, daughter of (-[1109]). Her son by her first marriage is named "Guillelmus filius Ermengardæ dominus Montispessulani" in a charter dated 1093[758]. The primary source which confirms her family origin has not been identified. She is often stated to be Ermengarde de Melgueil, daughter of Raymond [I] Comte de Melgueil & his wife Beatrix [de Poitou]. The documentation on which this is based has not been identified and it seems unlikely to be correct considering that her son Guillaume [V] Seigneur de Montpellier would have been betrothed to his first cousin for which a Papal dispensation would be unlikely to be granted at that time. She married secondly --- [d'Anduze]. This person’s possible identity is discussed in the document TOULOUSE - NORTHERN & EASTERN. The marriage is confirmed by the testament dated 1114 made “pergens contra paganos ad expugnandam Majoricam insulam”, by her son “Guillelmus Montipessulani” which bequeathed “castellum d’Omelas” to “Bernardo de Andusia fratri meo et infantibus suis”[759]. Europäische Stammtafeln interprets this strangely as meaning that Bernard was the son of Bernard Guillaume [IV][760]."

III. Wikipédia (FR) - Liste des seigneurs de Montpellier offers the following (dates are for reigns, not necessarily birth and death, though the end of a reign usually coincided with an individual's death)
III.1 Guilhem I de Montpellier 985 - ca 1025
III.2. Bérenger/Bernard de Montpellier
-->III.2. Guilhem II de Montpellier, ca 1025 - ca 1059, nephew of the Guilhem I, son of Bérenger (or Bernard) de Montpellier
-->III.3.1 Guilhem III de Montpellier, ca 1059 - ca 1068, son of the Guilhem II
-->III.3.2 Bernard Guilhem IV de Montpellier, ca 1068 - 1085, brother of Guilhem III
-->III.4 Guilhem V de Montpellier,1085 - 1122, son of Guilhem IV
IV. H&T offer an extensive and well-documented analysis of the verious hypotheses regarding this line and conclude that the most commonly espoused hypothesis shows (see attached image of the diagram from the H&T website):
Siblings:
IV.1.1 Berenger
IV.1.2 Guilhem I [Bernard] de Montpellier m. Chimberge
IV.1.3 Trudgarde b. 960 d. bef 1022 m. Bernard (it is unclear whether Trudgarde or Bernard was the sibling of the other two)
-->IV.2 Guilhem II Bernard m. Beliarde (H&T state: "Guilhem I n’ayant probablement pas eu d’enfant adopte celui de Tudgarde, le fameux Guilhem II Bernard." (Guillem I probably not having children, adopted that of Trudgard, the famous Gillhem II Bernard." [translation by GA Vaut]
-->IV.3 Guilhem III Bernard m. Ermengarde de Narbonne
-->IV.4 Guilhem IV b. 1073 d. 1122 m. Ermessinde
Conclusion: I tend to be swayed by the arguments of Settipani and therefore have adopted the lineage as outlined by Genealogics for Guillem/Guillaume IV and V (father/son). This leaves unanswered the question of whether Guillem/Guillaume II was the son of Guillem/Guillaume I (per Genealogics) or of one of his siblings, Bernard/Berenger (per Med Lands) or Trugarde & Bernard (per H&T). Med Lands, Wikipédia (FR), and H&T disagree with the Genealogics descent, showing Guillaume/Guilhem/Guillem II not as the son of Guillaume/Guilhem/Guillem I, but rather of his sibling, named variously Bernard, Berenger or Bernard/Berenger. For now, I have also adopted H&T's lineage, but continue to search for other information. GA Vaut.10,11,12,9,13 He was living in 1058.6 He was Seigneur de Montpellier between 1068 and 1085.2,12
