Thoros (?) of Marash1,2

Father | Rupen I (?) Lord of Gobidar & Goromosol, Lord of the Mountains1,3 b. bt 1020 - 1025, d. c 1095 |

Thoros (?) of Marash was born circa 1046.4
Thoros (?) of Marash died after 1104.1,3,4
Thoros (?) of Marash lived at an unknown place ; Genealogics cites: The Rupenides,Hethumides and Lusignans, Structure of the Armeno-Cilician dynast. Paris, 1963., W.H. Rudt-Collenberg, Reference: I Rup.4
; Per Med Lands:
"[THOROS (-after 1104). According to Rüdt-Collenberg[394], Thoros was the brother of Kostandin Lord of Vaghka and Partzerpert, and also father of Arda who married Baudouin de Boulogne Count of Edessa (later Baudouin I King of Jerusalem). It is not known what evidence this claim is based on but it should be treated with caution. There appears to be confusion between three individuals: (1) Thoros Governor of Edessa, who adopted Baudouin de Boulogne (see below, Chapter 5.B.); (2) Thatoul Governor of Marash; and (3) Taphnuz or Tafroc, who was the father of Arda, although (2) and (3) may have been the same person, see below, Chapter 5.C. None of the primary sources so far consulted mention that Kostandin had a brother named Thoros.]"
Med lands cites: [394] Rüdt-Collenberg (1963), Table I.3
; Per Wikipedia:
"Thoros of Marash (also known as Thatoul) was the father of Arda of Armenia, the first queen consort of the Kingdom of Jerusalem.
"Thoros' allowing Baldwin I of Jerusalem, who was then Count of Edessa to marry his daughter gave Baldwin a legitimate claim to Edessa since it was within the traditional area of Armenia.
"Thoros failed to pay the full dowry he had pledged. Also with Baldwin becoming King of Jerusalem, he no longer felt a need to have alliances with the Armenians. Baldwin had his marriage to Arda annulled. About the same time the forces of Edessa drove Thoros from his domain. He was then forced to flee to Constantinople and became part of an anti-Crusader faction in Constantinople advocating that the Byzantine Empire reassert its traditional hold on Armenian territories that were now held by the Crusader States.
