"Donat Ier de Melun (v. 790 - † av. 866), « comte de Melun » en 8301 et missus dominicus dans la province de Sens
Origines et liens familiaux
"On ne connait pas son ascendance, mais quelques auteurs pensent qu’il serait le fils de Gauzlin, comte du Maine, et de sa femme Adeltrude. Il s’était marié avec Landrade, fille probable de Bégon, comte de Paris. De cette union, Donat eut six enfants2 :
* Gauzlin, missu dominicus en Bourgogne en 865, et comte de Bassigny ;
Gontier ;
* Hugues, comte de Bassigny ;
* Waltrude (ou Waudru) ;
* Robert, évêque du Mans à partir de 857 à 883 ;
* Boson.
Biographie

With his wife Eléonore de Châtillon, daughter of Guy III de Châtillon, comte de St.Pol, and Marie de Bretagne, he had two sons, Jean IV and Robert IV, and a daughter Isabelle, of whom Robert would have progeny.
"Jean and his brother Robert III sided with Charles II 'the Bad', king of Navarre, in his conflict with Jean II 'the Good', king of France, for which both brothers had their estates confiscated, and Jean was beheaded in Rouen on 5 April 1355. Robert was pardoned in 1360.1
; NB: There is disagreement concerning the MALET family and its lineage. I have consulted anumber of sources in an effort to sort it out, but have been unable to establish a clear lineage. I have made notes where I have found disagreement and indicated which interpretation I have chosen to follow. GA Vaut
The sources I have consulted are all "tertiary" in that they cite mostly secondary sources and records. They vary in credibility. Most of the cite their own sources. I have looked at:

; Per Genealogics: "Jean III Malet, seigneur de Graville, de Séez et de Bernay, was the son of Jean II Malet, seigneur de Graville, de Séez et de Bernay, and Jeanne de Wavrin.
1. The Genealogics database (multiple individual pages - cited for those individuals) - cites sources in some case, but only sparingly with the Malet family.
2. The Foundations for Medieval Genealogy Medieval Lands Database (multiple pages - cited for those individuals) - cites sources.
3. The Racines et Histoire website (multiple family pages - cited for those individuals) - does not cite sources.
4. Burke's Peerage website - principally the Malet family page - cites sources.

Robert III Malet Seigneur de Graville, de Séez et de Bernay died after 1395.1
; Per Genealogics:
"Robert was the son of Jean III de Malet, seigneur de Graville, de Séez et de Bernay, and Eléonore de Châtillon. He was mentioned as alive in 1380 in the cartulary of Sainte-Honorine. Robert had a son Guy who would continue the line. Guy and three of his brothers were killed at the Battle of Verneuil in 1424. Little else is recorded about Robert, but in 1361 his brother Jean IV, presumably the elder, had all the estates restored to him which had been taken from his father for siding with Charles II 'the Bad', king of Navarre against Jean II 'the Good', king of France."1

Gabrielle d'Estrées Marquise de Monceaux, Duchesse de Beaufort was buried after 10 April 1599 at Abbey de Maubuisson, Saint-Ouen-l'Aumone, Departement du Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France, France.1

She persuaded Henry to renounce Protestantism in favour of Catholicism in 1593. Later she urged French Catholics to accept the Edict of Nantes, which granted certain rights to the Protestants. It was legally impossible for the king to marry her, because he was already married to Margaret of Valois, but he acknowledged Gabrielle as the mother of three of his children, and as "the subject most worthy of our friendship".[4]"3

Heinrich I (?) Seigneur de Blâmont died after 10 November 1331.1
; Per Genealogics:
"Heinrich was born about 1242, the son of Friedrich, Graf zu Salm, seigneur de Blâmont, and Johanna de Bar. He was a minor on his father's death before 1258. To satisfy his creditors, his father had been forced to surrender major holdings to the duke of Lorraine and the bishop of Metz, the latter taking possession of the castle of Blâmont except for its keep. On reaching his majority Heinrich devoted himself to dissolving his vassalage particularly to the bishop of Metz. He gave up his title as Graf zu Salm and created his own arms as lord of Blâmont. He became a vassal of his uncle Thibaud II, comte de Bar, his mother's brother, and joined Frédéric III, duke of Lorraine, in making war on Bouchard d'Avesnes, bishop of Metz, who was also Heinrich's overlord. Over his long life he developed an enduring alliance with successive dukes of Lorraine, which helped him considerably to extend his land holdings.
"Before January 1267 Heinrich married Kunigunde von Leiningen, heiress of Gosney, Foulcry and Bigny, daughter of Emich IV, Graf von Leiningen in Landeck, and 'Elisabeth' d'Aspremont. Their sons Heinrich II and Emich and daughters Marguerite and Isabella would have progeny, Marguerite with Jean I de Bourgogne, seigneur de Montaigu, and Isabella with Eudes V de Grancey, sire de Grancey.
"Heinrich took part in the famous tourney of Chauvency in 1285, by the little village of Chauvency-le-Château near Montmédy in Lorraine, on the border of France and Germany. His arms (two silver salmon suspended back to back on a field of crimson) are shown among those of the participants in the tourney, organised by Louis V, comte de Chiny, Heinrich's step-father, in honour of Heinrich's uncle Heinrich IV, Graf zu Salm. Over six days, more than 500 knights jousted and fought in a melee at the tourney, and Heinrich was celebrated as one of the most successful combatants. The tourney was commemorated in some 4500 verses by the troubadour Jacques Bretel, and a series of miniatures held at Oxford University depict scenes from it, in which the participants are easily identified by the arms on their shields.
"When Heinrich's first cousin Henri III, comte de Bar, married Eleanor of England, the daughter of King Edward I 'Longshanks', Henri was drawn into the war that broke out between England and France, and Heinrich sided with him. Henri was defeated and captured, and only freed after the 1301 Treaty of Bruges imposed harsh conditions on him. However Heinrich soon gained the favour of Philippe IV, king of France. More generally, Heinrich showed himself adept at offering his allegiance to a series of overlords for a financial return. They included Jan II, duke of Brabant and Limburg (in 1296 for 200 livres), Guy de Dampierre, Graaf van Vlaanderen (for 100 livres) and Jan II d'Avesnes, Graaf van Holland en Hainault (in 1302 for 120 livres).
"In 1302 Bouchard d'Avesnes, brother of Jan II, was succeeded as bishop of Metz by Heinrich's first cousin Renaud de Bar, son of Thibaud II, comte de Bar, and brother of Heinrich's ally Henri III who died that year. Despite their family connection, Heinrich sided against Renaud with Thibault II, duke of Lorraine, the son and successor of Frédéric III. The two defeated the army of Bar at Frouard in 1308, captured the young Edouard I, comte de Bar, and forced his uncle Bishop Renaud to flee. Edouard was released for a large ransom following the treaty at Bar-sur-Aube in 1314, in which Renaud also had to pay a large sum to recover lands he had lost, and was forced to retire as bishop. In 1319 he was succeeded as bishop of Metz by Henry de La Tour du Pin, regent of the Dauphiné, son of Humbert I de La Tour du Pin. Heinrich attempted to use the changeover to free himself from the last bonds of vassalage to both the bishopric of Metz and the duke of Lorraine, but he did not succeed in this, though in 1324 Henry returned to Heinrich the château of Châtillon that Heinrich had lost to his predecessor. Henry resigned as bishop in 1325, and his successor, Adhémar de Monteil, demanded that Heinrich fulfill his feudal obligations for estates including Blâmont, Deneuve and Châtillon, that he held as fiefs of the bishopric of Metz. Heinrich rejected this, which led to a war that was not finished when Heinrich died after 10 November 1331, some twenty years after the death of his wife. The sarcophagus holding the remains of Heinrich and his wife is in the Church of the Cordeliers in Nancy, the former capital of the duchy of Lorraine."1

Friedrich II von Saarbrücken Graf von Leiningen1

Friedrich II von Saarbrücken Graf von Leiningen was born circa 1186.1
Friedrich II von Saarbrücken Graf von Leiningen died in 1237.1
; Per Genealogics:
"Friedrich II was born about 1186, the younger son of Simon II, Graf von Saarbrücken, and Liutgarde von Leiningen. After the extinction of the older line of the counts of Leiningen in 1212 with the death of Liutgarde's brother Friedrich I, Graf von Leiningen, Friedrich II inherited the estate and arms of Leiningen and founded the younger line of the counts of Leiningen.
"With his wife Agnes von Eberstein, daughter of Eberhard III, Graf von Eberstein, and Kunigunde, Gräfin von Andechs, Friedrich had two sons Friedrich III and Emich IV and three daughters who would have progeny.
"Friedrich II did not play a major role in the greater politics of his time. From his castle of Hartsburg he strengthened his stewardship over the rich abbey of Limburg. He or his brother-in-law Friedrich I was a _Minnesänger_ (troubadour), and the narrator Heinrich von Veldeke of the Berlin manuscript of the _Minnelied_ the 'Eneide' (Aeneid). The song describes the departure of the singer from his wife for a crusade or campaign to Apulia. If this was the crusade of 1228/29 or the campaign of 1210 in the service of Emperor Friedrich I Barbarossa to Italy the author was Friedrich II.
"The picture in the _Codex Manesse_ (the Manesse manuscript of troubadour songs) shows a knight bearing the Leiningen arms of three silver eagles on blue, either Friedrich I or II, in combat with a mortally wounded opponent, whose shield carries the legend HEID (Heathen), whereby the artist appears to be suggesting a crusade. Friedrich II died in 1237."1
