He was Seneschal of Emperor Louis I "le Pieux."1 GAV-34 EDV-32.
; Per Med Lands:
"[ADALHARD [III] (-after 16 Jun 866). The primary source which identifies Adalhard as the son of Liuthard has not yet been identified, although the testament of "Gerardus [comes]" names "consanguinitate, affinitate et propinquitate etiam nobis junctis, id est Leufredi et Adalardi Comitum"[88]. Seneschal of Emperor Louis I "le Pieux". Nithard says that he "cared little for the public good and tried to please everyone…and ruined the kingdom altogether"[89]. The Breve Chronicon Epternacense names “Adelardus comes” as abbot of Echternach from 850 to 856[90]. "Adelhardus comes" was "provisor monasterii S. Maximini" in Jul 855[91]. "Hlotharius…rex" donated property "in pago Eiflinse in comitatu Matfridi" at the request of "Adalardus et Matfridus…comites" to "vassallo præfati Matfridi Otberto" by charter dated 28 Jun 856[92]. An agreement between Charles II "le Chauve" King of the West Franks and his brother Ludwig II "der Deutsche" King of the East Franks dated Jun 860 names "nobilis ac fidelibus laicis…Chuonradus, Evrardus, Adalardus, Arnustus, Warnarius, Liutfridus, Hruodolfus, Erkingarius, Gislebertus, Ratbodus, Arnulfus, Hugo, item Chuonradus, Liutharius, Berengarius, Matfridus, Boso, Sigeri, Hartmannus, Liuthardus, Richuinus, Wigricus, Hunfridus, Bernoldus, Hatto, Adalbertus, Burchardus, Christianus, Leutulfus, Hessi, Herimannus, item Hruodulfus, Sigehardus"[93]. The Annales Bertiniani record that "Carlomannus, Hlodowici regis Germaniæ" sought refuge with "Adalardo, Yrmintrudis reginæ avunculo, suo autem propinquo" after he was banished by his father following his rebellion in 861[94]. The Annales Bertiniani record that "Adalardo Yrmintrudis reginæ avunculo" was "propinquo" of the brothers Udo (ancestor of the Franconian Konradiner family), Berengar and Waldo who were expelled from Germany in 865[95], and in a later passage record that "Adalardo…et suis propinquis Hugonis et Berengario" fought the Vikings in 865[96]. "Leudo episcopus et Adelardus comes missi dominici in comitatu Augustidunense" heard a dispute between "Vulfaldum episcopum et Heccardum comitem" concerning land at Perrecy, the proceedings recorded in a charter dated to [866/75][97]. Charles II "le Chauve" King of the West Franks confirmed the donation of property "in pago Alsense...in uilla Blanziaco...et in pago Belnense...et in uilla...Possionis...et in Montelio...et in uilla...Vasmaro...et in pago Augustodunensi...et in pago Belnense in uilla Nolaico" made by "Adelardus comes et abbas cœnobii Sancti Symphoriani" by charter dated 16 Jun 866[98].

; NB. There seems to be some confusion about which Konrad II was the son of Konrad I Count of Auxerre. Genealogics, Med Lands and Wikipedia seem to agree on a Konrad II, son of Konrad I, and who m. Waldrada. Wikipedia also shows Konrad II as having married both: m1. Judith of Friuli (a daughter of Eberhard of Friuli), and later m2. Waldrada of Worms.
The confusion seems to lie when examining the proposals of those who attribute the Adeldunde who m. Ehrenfried I, Graf von Bliesgau, to a "Konrad of Burgundy".
I have chosen to show Konrad II 'the Younger' as having m1. Judith of Friuli (a daughter of Eberhard of Friuli), and later m2. Waldrada of Worms. "Erenfried II (died c.?970) was a Lotharingian nobleman, from the area of Bonn in what is now Germany. According to one proposal, he was son of Eberhard I, Count of Bonngau and Zülpichgau.
"He was Count in Keldachgau, Count in the Zülpichgau (942), in the Bonngau (945), in Hubbelrath (950).
"Possibly he was also the Count of this name in the Hattuariergau (947) and in the neighbouring Tubalgau (Duffelgau) (948), and also count in the Belgian county of Huy, and Vogt of the Stavelot Abbey. Various historians interpret all or some of these to be a contemporary of the same name, Ehrenfrid, son of Ricfrid.
"It is proposed that he married Richwara (died 10 Jul 963) and had issue:
** Hermann I, Count Palatine of Lotharingia.
** Erenfried, Abbot of Gorze (same as Poppo II Bishop of Würzburg (961-983)?) (fl. 999).
"Although there is record of Hermann's mother being Richwara, the proposal concerning who his father is likely but not certain.

Emma (?) married Eadbald (?) King of Kent, son of Aethelberht (?) King of Kent and Bertha (?) Queen of Kent, after 618
;
His 2nd wife.1,2
GAV-37.
; Per Med Lands:
"[EMMA . "Emma Francorum regis filia et regis Eadbaldi copula" subscribed her husband's 618 charter[369]. Although Emma seems an unlikely name for a Merovingian princess, given the more complex names which are typical of the family, Settipani suggests that it is the diminutive of a name containing a root similar to "Ermen-", like Ermenberga or Ermentrudis, which would also provide an explanation for the root "Eormen-" in the name of her son[370]. Stenton says[371] there seems no doubt that Eadbald's second wife belonged to the Frankish royal house but that her parentage has not been ascertained. Werner suggests[372] that she was the daughter of Erchinoald, maior domus of Neustria, as the name root "Eorcen-" (similar to "Erchin-") was used among her descendants. Settipani[373] identifies Emma's parents as shown here, seemingly because he eliminates all other possible couples from the known members of the Merovingian royal family from a chronological viewpoint. He prefers a Merovingian ancestry to explain the name "Hlothhere" given to Emma's grandson, similar to "Chlothachar" or "Clotaire", the name of Emma's supposed father.
"m (after [618]) as his second wife, EADBALD King of Kent, son of ÆTHELBERHT King of Kent & his first wife Berta of the Franks (-20 Jan 640).]"

"GUY de Dampierre, son of GUILLAUME [II] Seigneur de Dampierre & his wife Marguerite II Ctss of Flanders ([1225/26]-Compiègne 7 Mar 1305, bur Abbaye de Flines, near Douai). The Genealogica Comitum Flandriæ Bertiniana names (in order) "Guillelmum Guodnem et Iohannem" as the three sons of "Guillelmo domino de Dampetra [et] Margaretæ", specifying that "primo mortuo sine liberis in tornramento apud Trasegnies"[629]. Matthew of Paris specifies that his parents had "two others" when he records the parentage of his brother Guillaume, but does not name the other children[630]. He succeeded his brother in 1251 as GUY joint Count of Flanders. Willem II Count of Holland, as king of Germany, pronounced that Count Guy and his mother had forfeited imperial Flanders by failing to do homage to him. His forces attacked Holland in 1253 and Count Guy was defeated at Westkappel, on the island of Walcheren, in Jul 1253 and captured. His mother sought help from Charles Duc d'Anjou, who agreed in return for receiving the county of Hainaut which he partially subjugated. A truce was negotiated between all parties 26 Jul 1254, which included an agreement to submit the dispute to Louis IX King of France for adjudication[631]. Count Guy was ransomed in 1256, when King Louis IX confirmed his 1246 decision regarding the Hainaut/Flanders split between the Avesnes/Dampierre families[632]. Guy bought the rights to Namur 20 Mar 1263 from Baudouin II titular Emperor of Constantinople[633]. He succeeded as sole Count of Flanders on the abdication of his mother 29 Dec 1278. Following complaints of maladministration, together with commercial difficulties following a long-running trading dispute with England, rebellions broke out in Bruges and Ypres in 1280/81[634]. Conflicts with France arose after the accession in 1285 of King Philippe IV. In 1290, the emperor enfeoffed Jean d'Avesnes Comte de Hainaut with imperial Flanders, although he lacked the means to enforce it. Count Guy established closer ties with England, confirmed by the Treaty of Lier 31 Aug 1294 under which his daughter was betrothed to the future Edward II King of England. Philippe IV King of France summoned Count Guy to Paris, imprisoned him for four months with two of his sons, forced him to abandon the English betrothal, and obliged him to adhere to the French embargo of trade with England[635]. In Mar 1296, Count Guy's acceptance of an invitation from Valenciennes, chief city of Hainaut, to annex it to Flanders provoked Jean d'Avesnes Comte de Hainaut into invading Flanders from Holland. King Philippe IV declared Flanders forfeit, but restored it on payment of a fine. Count Guy renounced homage to the French king, who attacked Flanders 15 Jun 1297. The Chronicle of Guillaume de Nangis records that "Karolus comes Valesii" captured "Guido comes Flandrensium...cum duobus filiis Roberto et Guillermo" in 1299[636]. He attacked again 6 Jan 1300, incorporated Flanders into the royal domain, took Count Guy and his sons as prisoners to Paris, and appointed Jacques de Châtillon as royal lieutenant. An uprising followed in Bruges, prompting another French invasion which was heavily defeated at Courtrai 11 Jul 1302. The French navy defeated the Flemish at Zierikzee in 1304, and an indecisive battle at Mons-en-Pévèle followed 18 Aug 1304[637]. The Continuatio of the Chronicle of Guillaume de Nangis records the death in Feb 1305 of "Guido comes Flandrensis", while still in captivity, the return of his body to Flanders, and his burial "Marguetæ"[638].

The testament of "Mahaut feme au…Guion comte de Flandre et dame de Béthune", dated Mar 1250, is witnessed by "…monseigneur Robert sénéchal de Flandre, monseigneur Hellyn son frère, monseigr Guillaume de Grimberghes"[640]. The Annales Blandinienses record the wife of Comte Guy as "filiam Roberti advocati Bethunensis", and the death of "Mathildis uxor Widonis comitis" in 1262[641].
"m secondly (May 1264) ISABELLE de Luxembourg, daughter of HENRI II Comte de Luxembourg & his wife Marguerite de Bar, dame de Ligny-en-Barrois (-25 Sep 1298). The History of the Bishops of Liège written by Jean Hocsemius, canon at Liège, records that "Isabella Flandriæ comitissa soror...comitis Lutzilburgensis" appointed “dominum de Falcomonte” to “terræ dotis suæ Namurcensis” in 1288 after “bellum apud castrum de Waronc” in which her brother was killed[643]."

“Isabelle de Luxembourg was born about 1247, the daughter of Henri 'the Blond', comte de Luxembourg et Namur, and Margarethe de Bar, dame de Ligny.
“In March 1265 Isabelle married Guy de Dampierre, Graaf van Vlaanderen, Graaf van Namen. Her marriage was determined by events that occurred many years before her birth. Around 1165 her great-grandfather Henri 'the Blind', comte de Namur et Luxembourg, had no children from his first marriage. He named his brother Baudouin IV, Graaf van Henegouwen, as his successor. Baudouin died in 1171, and Henri confirmed his nephew Baudouin V-VIII, Graaf van Henegouwen, Graaf van Vlaanderen as his successor. However in one more attempt to have children, Henri married his second wife Agnes van Gelre, who bore a daughter Ermesinde, causing Henri to break the promise he had made to Baudouin. A war ensued, with the result that Baudouin was reaffirmed Henri's heir in Namur.
“Isabelle's father Henri 'the Blond' claimed his rights to Namur as the son of Ermesinde, but his claim failed. Nevertheless Isabelle's parents wanted to make peace with Guy de Dampierre over Namur, and hence Isabelle became Guy's second wife. His first wife Mathilde de Béthune, heiress of Béthune, Dendermonde and Richebourg, had died a year earlier. Guy already had eight children with Mathilde. Isabelle gave birth to another eight children, of whom Jean I, Henri, Marguerite, Isabelle and Beatrix would have progeny.
“Guy arranged a marriage between their daughter Philippa and Edward, prince of Wales, the future Edward II, king of England. However, Philippe IV, king of France, imprisoned Guy and two of his sons, forced him to call off the marriage, and imprisoned Philippa in Paris until her death in 1306. Guy was summoned before the king again in 1296, and the principal cities of Flanders were taken under royal protection until Guy paid an indemnity and surrendered his territories, to hold them at the grace of the king.
